OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE 

 

A temporary Financial Manager position is available in the Global Controllership department. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Manager to join our Group Consolidations function. This role will be primarily responsible for the Group's consolidation and Financial Reporting process, and the delivery of certain ad hoc inputs where specialist accounting knowledge and expertise is required.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Education

 

  • Chartered Accountant, or equivalent qualification.

 

 

Technical and Functional Expertise

 

  • 5 years in the mining industry and/or associated business fields, and which should include corporate reporting / financial accounting functions
  • Understanding of complex consolidations and the Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) system
  • Sound Financial Reporting, International Reporting Standards, and their application
  • Experience with the accounting for large Corporate structures 
  • Experience of working with cross-functional and geographical teams
  • Governance and compliance skills – set organisational standards and processes around governance and compliance
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities with a focus on detail
  • Project Management and Execution – has an understanding of the “bigger picture” and how this drives projects and business cases 

 

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Compilation of the Group consolidation (yearly and quarterly) results and financial reporting of results
  • Compilation of the Group analytical reviews to assist in analysing the Group’s results
  • Compilation of the Group Segment Reporting
  • Advise on non-routine transactions across the Group (finance and other functions) in terms of consolidations and systems
  • Responsible for providing training to the business unit finance teams relating to HFM pack disclosures and statutory reporting processes
  • Participate in the implementation of US-GAAP reporting changes to quarterly and annual reporting processes due to the change in primary listing (when required), and compliance with reporting requirements in the UK
  • Advise on once-off transactions (acquisitions/ disposals/ group restructuring/ new financing), from a consolidations and systems perspective
  • Preparation of the Group Annual Financial Statements (excluding notes prepared by the Technical Accounting team)
  • Maintain relationships with external auditors in terms of consolidations and tie-ins
  • Manage the reporting for equity accounted investments in the Group
  • Manage the share-based payments process in the Group
  • Comply with the SOX control process within the Consolidations team
  • Participate in year-end SOX meetings to assist in assessing all identified SOX deficiencies and possible impacts with the SOX and external audit teams
  • Participation in combined assurance reviews on an ad-hoc basis

 

 

Remuneration

As per the AGA salary scales.
