About the Role

The Specialist, Community Affairs plays an essential execution role in implementing AngloGold Ashanti’s (AGA) social performance, stakeholder engagement, and community development programs across Southern Nevada, with a primary focus on Beatty and surrounding regional areas. Working under the strategic direction of the Community Relations Manager and in close collaboration with a peer Community Affairs Specialist, this role acts as a primary, hands-on community liaison and operational lead.

Key accountabilities include staffing and managing daily operations at the new Beatty Community Relations Center, coordinating educational and civic programming, administering the site grievance mechanism, supporting land/property access coordination, and maintaining enterprise system records (CIMS, SAP, Foundation, and Working Group operations) to secure and strengthen AngloGold Ashanti’s social license to operate.

Key Responsibilities

Community Relations Center Management & Programming
• Serve as a primary point of contact for the new Beatty Community Relations Center, ensuring consistent staffing, welcoming visitors, answering public inquiries, and maintaining a professional, accessible office environment.
• Design, coordinate, and execute community programming at the Center, including K-12 educational workshops, STEM activities, project briefing sessions, and community gatherings.
• Maintain up-to-date informational displays, factsheets, maps, and project literature at the Center to keep community members informed about AGA activities and local opportunities.
• Manage bookings, equipment, and logistics for meetings held at the Center, as well as coordinating AGA use of the Town’s Beatty Community Center as needed.

Stakeholder Engagement & Field Execution
• Execute tactical outreach and formal consultation plans with local municipal leaders, Town Advisory Boards (TABs), county officials, civic organizations, and community members.
• Maintain a visible and accessible presence across Beatty and Southern Nevada by attending local meetings, capturing key public feedback, and sharing operational intelligence with internal teams.
• Support the planning and execution of public consultation events, including town halls, open house briefings, site tours, and local community events (e.g., Beatty Days, Earth Day).
• Monitor regional news media, social platforms, and local civic updates for developments affecting AGA operations or community sentiment.

Grievance Resolution & Issue Escalation
• Receive and log formal complaints, questions, and grievances in person at the Center, or via phone, text, and email.
• Work with internal departments (e.g., Operations, Environmental, Legal) to investigate inquiries, formulate thorough answers, implement corrective actions, and follow up directly with community members.
• Escalate high-risk, sensitive, or unresolved community issues to the Community Relations Manager for strategic resolution.

Community Investment, Education & Partnerships
• Execute the site community investment plan by processing sponsorships, donations, and educational grants aligned with approved budgets.
• Manage K-12 school outreach programs, coordinating employee classroom visits, career fairs, and continuing education initiatives.
• Administer the local scholarship program, including application processing, board review logistics, check disbursements, and award tracking.

Foundation & Working Group Administration
• Beatty Foundation: Maintain official records, schedule monthly meetings, compile agendas, draft meeting minutes, track grant awards/expenditures, and execute annual filings with the Nevada Secretary of State.
• Community Working Group: Organize quarterly meetings, coordinate scheduling across internal AGA departments and external agencies, compile agendas, record detailed notes, and track action items.
• Property & Land Access Support: Assist the Environmental team with private property access logistics, contacting landowners, scheduling survey dates, securing access documentation, and maintaining property files.

Systems, Records & Administration
• Stakeholder System (CIMS): Meticulously log daily stakeholder interactions, meeting minutes, grievance resolution steps, and community investment expenditures in the enterprise database (CIMS).
• SAP & Procurement: Submit vendor onboarding requests (sundry vs. supplier), compile documentation for Purchase Requisitions/Purchase Orders (PR/PO), code invoices, obtain management approvals, and submit payment requests to Accounts Payable (AP).
• Check Processing: Issue formal check requests for scholarships, sponsorships, donations, and non-invoiced vendor payments.
