About the Role

The Environmental Specialist supports environmental compliance and stewardship across Nevada mining operations by implementing monitoring programs, maintaining permit compliance, and ensuring adherence to state and federal regulations. This role provides technical support to operations, manages environmental data and reporting, and helps mitigate environmental risks to maintain the company’s social license to operate.

Working closely with site leadership, regulatory agencies, and cross‑functional teams, the Environmental Specialist ensures environmental commitments are met accurately, efficiently, and in alignment with regulatory and company standards.

 

Key Responsibilities

Regulatory Compliance

  • Implement and monitor compliance with environmental permits and regulatory requirements (NDEP and applicable federal agencies).
  • Prepare and submit environmental reports, monitoring documentation, and regulatory correspondence.
  • Track permit conditions, reporting deadlines, and compliance obligations.
  • Support permit updates and modifications as operational needs evolve.

Environmental Monitoring & Field Activities

  • Conduct field inspections, environmental assessments, and sampling activities.
  • Coordinate and review monitoring data for water, air, waste, and reclamation programs.
  • Validate data accuracy prior to regulatory submission.
  • Identify potential compliance risks and escalate issues for resolution.

Risk Management & Corrective Action

  • Evaluate operational activities for environmental risk exposure.
  • Support implementation and tracking of corrective actions.
  • Participate in environmental incident investigations and documentation.
  • Maintain compliance tracking systems and monitoring logs.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate, organized, and defensible environmental records in compliance with regulatory and company standards.
  • Prepare internal compliance summaries and performance updates.
  • Support environmental audits and regulatory inspections.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Operations, Safety, Construction, Maintenance, and Community Relations teams to integrate environmental requirements into daily activities.
  • Support engagement with Tribal representatives, agencies, and local stakeholders as needed.
  • Promote environmental awareness and regulatory understanding across site personnel.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Natural Resources, Biology, Geology, or related field.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • 2–5 years of experience in environmental compliance, preferably in mining, industrial, or natural resource operations.
  • Familiarity with Nevada environmental regulations and permitting preferred.
  • Experience supporting environmental monitoring programs and regulatory reporting.
  • Ability to work in field conditions at an active mining site.
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders and cross‑functional teams.
  • Environmental permitting and compliance.
  • Field inspection and environmental monitoring practices.
  • Data management, validation, and regulatory reporting.
  • Knowledge of Nevada regulatory frameworks and permitting processes.
  • Incident documentation and corrective action tracking.
  • Proficiency with environmental databases and reporting tools.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
  • Clear written and verbal communication.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
  • Collaborative mindset with cross‑functional teams.
  • High level of accountability and professional integrity.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding company information and operations.
