About the Role

The Manager, Processing & Metallurgy provides functional leadership for all metallurgical and mineral processing activities across the Nevada Projects portfolio—from study phases through execution readiness, construction support, commissioning, and performance validation. The role ensures that process design, metallurgical testwork, recovery assumptions, and cost models are technically robust, economically optimized, and aligned with project stage‑gate decision requirements.

Acting as the primary interface between metallurgical disciplines and project leadership, this role ensures that appropriate technical resources, governance, and external expertise are in place to deliver successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Functional & Technical Leadership

  • Lead the Processing and Metallurgy function in alignment with Nevada Projects’ strategic objectives.
  • Ensure metallurgical activities comply with AGA governance, methodologies, and company standards—particularly during high‑impact technical decisions.
  • Provide governance for process design criteria, flowsheet selection, metallurgical accounting, and recovery modeling.
  • Ensure metallurgical scope and deliverables meet each project’s stage‑gate and execution readiness requirements.

Project Development & Economic Assurance

  • Lead development of metallurgical inputs for Concept Study (CS), PFS, and FS level capital and operating cost estimates.
  • Ensure recovery assumptions, reagent consumption forecasts, and operating philosophies are technically sound and economically optimized.
  • Validate technical trade‑offs and recovery models supporting project business cases.
  • Review and approve operating philosophies, metallurgical control strategies, and performance assumptions appropriate to project maturity.

Metallurgical Testwork & Technical Integration

  • Govern metallurgical testwork programs, laboratory methods, sampling systems, scale‑up approaches, and metallurgical accounting frameworks.
  • Ensure testwork, modeling, and recovery assumptions are fit‑for‑purpose for the project phase.
  • Integrate metallurgical deliverables with Engineering, Mining, Geology, Infrastructure, Project Controls, and Finance functions.
  • Support commissioning, ramp‑up, and performance validation by ensuring process design intent is preserved through execution.

Stakeholder & Contractor Management

  • Serve as the primary liaison between technical metallurgy and senior project leadership.
  • Manage senior‑level relationships with EPCM contractors, metallurgical laboratories, and specialty consultants.
  • Maintain accountability for technical performance and commercial aspects associated with metallurgical service providers.

People, Safety & Culture

  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and high‑performance culture within the processing and metallurgy team.
  • Provide technical mentoring and guidance to metallurgical professionals and project team members.
  • Promote and lead safe execution of metallurgical testwork, studies, and site‑based activities.
  • Ensure all metallurgical activities comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related process discipline (required).
  • Advanced degree or specialized postgraduate training preferred.
  • Proficiency with applicable metallurgical and project analysis tools and software.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in metallurgical engineering, mineral processing, or project metallurgy.
  • Demonstrated leadership of metallurgical scope across multiple project development stages.
  • Strong background in gold processing projects; experience with refractory ores preferred.
  • Proven experience working across multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Strong understanding of metallurgical testwork programs and scale‑up principles.
  • Familiarity with refractory gold flowsheets (flotation, POX, BIOX/Albion, atmospheric oxidation).
  • Ability to analyze complex technical data, draw conclusions, and support decision‑making.
  • Strong technical writing, reporting, and presentation skills.
  • Strong technical judgment and accountability in high‑impact decisions.
  • Excellent awareness of safety, health, and environmental requirements.
  • Ability to work effectively with limited supervision while maintaining governance discipline.
  • Collaborative leadership style with a strong mentoring mindset.
  • Awareness of community and cultural considerations in mining project development.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Valid driver’s license required; periodic travel to project sites expected.
