About the Role
The Superintendent, Project Procurement will lead and manage the sourcing and purchasing of goods and services for capital projects, ensuring timely, cost-effective, and compliant procurement that supports internal AGA organizations. You will play a key role in delivering projects successfully while promoting safety, collaboration, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Safety

  • Lead contractor procurement activities for assigned capital projects, ensuring alignment with approved programs and organizational objectives.
  • Promote and model a proactive safety culture within your team and across the organization.
  • Communicate significant safety incidents promptly and enforce project procurement protocols to manage operations safely.
  • Monitor and recommend improvements to the safety management system, identifying risks and resolving emerging issues.
  • Ensure adequate resources are applied to achieve safety objectives and model behaviors consistent with AGA’s Vision, Values, and Procedures.

Organizational Culture & Team Management

  • Support project stakeholders in implementing the desired vision, performance expectations, and team culture.
  • Encourage effective team communication to maximize efficiency and collaboration.

Reporting & Communication

  • Provide timely, accurate, and detailed reports, presentations, and updates to management and stakeholders.
  • Ensure changes, issues, or relevant information are communicated efficiently to all relevant parties.

Technical & Procurement Expertise

  • Review and ensure the adequacy of commercial terms for all purchase orders in line with AGA’s approved Terms & Conditions and contract requirements.
  • Collaborate with Legal to review supplier revision requests.
  • Provide feedback on contractor procurement plans and procedures.
  • Oversee spares and commissioning procurement activities, including coordination of operator training with vendors and third-party specialists.
  • Work with internal business clients to qualify suppliers, manage supplier relationships, conduct spend analysis, gather market intelligence, and support risk management.
  • Support procurement processes for brownfield or SIB projects as needed.
  • Assist engineering contractors in setting fabrication priorities and coordinating requests to avoid overloading suppliers.
  • Liaise with field support teams on QA/QC, logistics, claims, and post-project surplus management, ensuring procedures and training documentation are followed.
  • Maintain and supervise high-quality data collection and ensure all relevant information is captured accurately.
  • Identify opportunities for risk reduction, cost avoidance, and savings, supporting project teams in delivering value.

Who You Are

  • Experienced in project procurement and supply chain management, preferably in mining, heavy industries, or capital project environments.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and drive results.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in procurement tools, systems, and reporting.
  • Knowledgeable in contract law, procurement regulations, and ethical sourcing practices.
  • Committed to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
