PURPOSE OF THE ROLE: 
To manage the Geita Gold Mineral Resource evaluation functions to deliver the GGM Budget and Life of Mine plan. Key responsibilities include Management of Geological data and ensuring high standards of drilling, sampling and assay including Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QAQC) systems. Creating Resource and Grade control Models for use in the short term and LOM Planning process. Management of Geometallurgical proxy data collection and ensures Geomet Strategy is aligned to business objectives. Developing and delivering annual Evaluation section budget based on approved options. Management of assaying contracts to achieve a standard of excellence in performance. Building Organisational Capability (People) within Evaluation Section to deliver the GGM budget and LOM plan. Lastly, implementation of GGM HSE policies, systems, and standards within the Evaluation section.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 
•    Bachelor of science in Geology Degree or equivalent.
•    Post graduate geology qualifications preferred.
•    Registered with Geological Survey of Tanzania or GST or similar Geological board.

 


EXPERIENCE:
•    A Minimum of 5 years of working experience on the similar role.

 

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
•    Background in Mine Geology and Exploration
•    Knowledge of sampling, assaying, and drilling methodologies
•    Broad understanding of other mining disciplines including Mining, Geotechnical, Processing and Financial Analysis.
•    Knowledge of grade control methodologies, production/mining, and Mine to Mill reconciliation chain.
•    Conversant with Mining Software’s – Datamine, Leapfrog, Geovariance (Isatis) etc.

 


MAIN OR KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

i.    Manages quality assurance / quality control programmes for all drilling programmes to ensure high standards in drilling, survey, sampling, and as saying.
•    Completes technical work to ensure QAQC systems are in place, and drilling and sampling is completed in accordance with AGA Drilling, Sampling and QAQC guidelines.
•    Sample Dispatch system in place to track samples from the field to the Assay Laboratory
 


ii.    Management of Geological Database to ensure adherence to AGA/GGM Standard best practices.
•        Maintains standards, processes, and protocols for Geological data collection and import in Geita drillhole database/s.

 

iii.    Constructs and delivers resource and grade control models, including compilation of integrated planning models, for input into mine planning.
•    Maintains current Site procedures for geological modelling, resource modelling and estimation.
•    Incorporates mine geology and exploration geological interpretation into geological models.
•    Constructs and delivers grade control and resource models.
•    Completes reconciliation of resource and grade control models, and reports on variance to previous models.
•    Completes annual Mineral Resource reporting in accordance with AGA Resource and reserve Reporting guidelines.
•    Facilitates internal and external Mineral Resource and Reserve reviews and audits.

 

iv.     Construct and deliver the annual evaluation budget based on the approved options, modifying the operating plan, and forecast when necessary to mitigate threats to achieving budget to achieve targets in terms of ore tonnes and grade delivered for processing, exploration outcomes, service delivery, operating costs, capital costs and project deliverables.
•    Construct the evaluation budget for the approved option per the business planning timetable.
•    Complete and update monthly forecasts to reflect results or performance obtained, program progress and cost.
•    Identified threats to the delivery of the budget (e.g. resource reconciliation, drilling results, and mine geology) with contingency plans developed to protect the plan.
•    Complete ongoing risk assessment and communicate risk mitigation for meeting budget and forecast goals and targets.

 

v.    Manages assaying contracts to achieve a standard of excellence in performance, productivity, costs, community engagement, risk management, quality management, safety and environmental performance, site culture, values, and behaviours. 
•    Monitor and manage the contractor according to the specifications as stipulated in the contract and hold the contractor accountable for their actions.
•    Ensure Contractor alignment to our objectives in terms of Quality, Quantity, Time, and Cost
•    Monitor and manage the contractor according to the specifications as stipulated in the contract and hold the contractor accountable for deviation.

 

vi.    Report on performance of Grade Control and Resource Models, with respect to mine planning, budget, LOM and Strategic Options.
•    Ensure an effective Evaluation reporting system is in place integrating all functional results and information. 
•    All models are finalized and released, following guidelines for sign-off, internal peer reviews, and external reviews and audits as required.
•    KPI’s developed for key processes and filtered through all levels of the team.
•    Monthly review of performance to date is completed against all appropriate targets and measured.
•    Significant variances to plan identified, risk assessed and addressed through appropriate direct reports.
•    Senior Manager appropriately informed of actual performance, risks, and opportunities.

 

vii.    Develop and implements Geomet strategy for the Site, ensuring geomet data collection is completed in accordance with Site geomet strategy
•    Annual update geomet strategy
•    Provides required equipment for geomet data collection, and ensures suitable skilled Technicians complete the work.
•    Collaborates with Site and Corporate teams to ensure alignment of geomet programmes.

 

viii. Develop systems for the work, integrating processes managed to provide effective planning of work, efficient and safe work practices, monitoring of performance and promote continuous improvement.
•    Efficiently and effectively delivered services and production strategies are implemented to provide information required by site wide clients.
•    Optimize the systems and processes ensuring the work is understood and the right work is done by the right people at the right time.
•    Improvement plans developed, tracked/monitored, and implemented for continuous improvement.

 

ix.    Build organizational capability (people, structure, systems, process) within the Evaluation team to deliver the budget and LOM plan.
•    Appropriately structured, capable operating team in place with the required skills.
•    Professional development and succession plans in place as per Site requirements
•    Team has the required materials, resources and labor provided, including skills and capabilities.
•    Complete performance effectiveness appraisals and review.

 

x. Implement and deliver compliance to site HSE Policies, management systems and processes within the Evaluation team.
•    Tasks identified from the HSE plan for the Evaluation team completed in a timely manner.
•        HSE improvement initiatives tabled for consideration for inclusion in strategy and plan developed by the HSE.
•    Department adherence to legislation and regulatory approvals.
•        Risks identified, critical controls implemented, action plans to reduce threats developed, budgeted, resourced, and completed to plan.
•    Contribute to Department HSE Plan
