In Australia we own and manage the Sunrise Dam Gold Mine, and the Tropicana Gold Mine (70% AGA owned 30% Regis Resources). These are two of Western Australia’s premier gold operations, with ongoing investment and exploration taking place across both open pit and underground operations at each site.
The Opportunity
We’re growing — and due to changing business needs, we’re seeking a permanent Underground Mine Geologist to join our Geology team. Reporting to the Senior Mine Geologist, you’ll be based at Sunrise Dam Gold Mine on a roster of 8 days on / 6 days off, with the choice of direct flights to our site from Perth or Kalgoorlie.
Sunrise Dam provides a rare career opportunity to work on one of the biggest and most geologically complex underground gold operations in Western Australia. As a mine geologist you will participate in a unique underground grade control process utilising five underground RC rigs and conditional simulation. When not underground, your time will be spent assisting with production tracking, interpreting drill results, and planning and designing drill programs to help define reserves to support the operations delivery of 250koz+ per year.
You will form part of a skilled, tight-knit team, backed by your Senior Mine Geologist and supported with the resources and guidance you need to succeed. Role Purpose:
Delivering the grade control, ore definition, ore production, material tracking and reconciliation processes to meet monthly production schedules.
Accountabilities:
- Demonstrate a strong affinity with AGA values especially in safety ‘walking the talk’
- Coordinate within the geology and mining teams to ensure succinct and timely execution of the mine plan.
- Manage and report daily, weekly and monthly production activities, reviewing to plan and reporting against scheduled performance
- Undertake and oversee underground mapping of development drives. Training and mentoring graduate geologist and underground techs in all aspects of their roles.
- Using your experience to deliver industry best practices in the following key aspects of work; drill program design, QAQC, database management, reconciliations and material tracking.
- Manage reverse circulation drilling activities from scheduling to design and implementation.
- Assist grade control geologist in generating high quality models using conditional simulation techniques.
- Building and maintaining cooperative and collaborative working relationships with alliance partners across site.
- Completing all tasks in accordance with all relevant safety instructions, procedures and rules, and the Duty of care.
About You

- A relevant tertiary degree in Geology.
- 2+ years in Mine Geology and comfortable with underground environments.
- A strong sense of safety.
- Very clear and concise communication and written skills.
- A comprehensive understanding of the mining cycle.
- Proficient in 3D software packages. Experience in Vulcan, Leapfrog or Deswik is highly regarded.
- Experienced in QAQC practices.
- Full Australian Working Rights
- Current C class Manual Drivers Licence.
- The ability to obtain a National Police Clearance.
