AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited, Obuasi Gold Mine has been redeveloped to become a modern, efficient and long-term profitable operation. The underground mining operation has been fully mechanized and designed to produce up to an average maximum of 5,000 t/day of ore mined.

ROLE PURPOSE
The Condition Monitoring Technician is responsible for performing all condition monitoring functions of the process plant, surface mining infrastructure, underground facilities and off-site installed rotating equipment which includes checking vibrations, precision measurement, temperatures, pressures, oil levels and flows and reporting. The role holder also assists reliability engineer in developing, implementing and reviewing equipment maintenance strategies, reliability-centred maintenance (RCM) tactics, and defect elimination projects in order to improve equipment reliability and asset integrity of the mine plant and equipment to world-class standards.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Regularly assess the condition of equipment using various techniques, such as vibration analysis, thermal imaging, and oil analysis.
- Analyse data and trends and identify potential issues before they lead to failures, allowing for timely maintenance and reducing downtime.
- Gather and analyse data to track equipment performance, helping to optimize operations and extend the life of machinery.
- Prepare detailed reports on equipment condition, providing insights and recommendations for maintenance or repairs.
- Work closely with maintenance teams and engineers to ensure that equipment is maintained effectively and to develop maintenance strategies.
- Ensure that equipment complies with safety standards and regulations and helping to maintain a safe working environment.
- Conduct routine checks on machinery and equipment to assess their current condition.
- Gather data through various monitoring techniques, including vibration analysis, thermal imaging, and oil condition tests.
- Interpret the collected data to identify trends, anomalies, and potential failure points.
- Create detailed reports outlining equipment conditions, analysis results, and recommendations for maintenance.
- Collaborate with maintenance teams to apply predictive maintenance strategies based on monitoring data.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, analyses, and maintenance actions taken.
- Adhere to safety and industry regulations, ensuring all monitoring and maintenance practices are compliant.
- Ensure that condition monitoring equipment is calibrated and functioning correctly.
- Stay updated on the latest monitoring technologies and methods to improve monitoring practices.
QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE AND TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
Qualification
- Associate Degree or Technical Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field
- Certification in Condition Monitoring Techniques (e.g., Vibration Analysis, Thermography, Oil Analysis) will be an added advantage.
- MINCOM certification will be an added advantage.
Experience
- Three to five (3-5) years’ experience in condition monitoring or maintenance roles, preferably in the mining or heavy industry.
Technical Competencies
- Proficiency in predictive maintenance technologies such as vibration analysis, oil analysis, infrared thermography, and ultrasound
- Strong analytical and diagnostic skills
- Attention to detail and precision
- Ability to interpret data and generate reports
- Knowledge of safety standards and procedures
