OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE

 

  • The Coordinator, Service & Infrastructure is accountable for monitoring and controlling documentation and permits covering fleet documentation, inspections, permits and driver management, as well as controlling pool vehicles to standard.
  • The role serves as the point of control of operator skills in compliance to operate mobile plant, equipment and vehicles underground.
  • The role is accountable for coordinating and checking documentation and its administration within SAP, ensuring required documentation is entered and maintained in accordance with Government of Ghana regulations, including LI2182, and AGAG standards.
  • The role is responsible for supporting safe, productive and efficient transport operations through the application of operational policies, standards, processes and procedures to maximise availability in a sustainable and cost-effective manner while minimising operational risks.

 

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

  • Work according to total quality management principles and ensure zero defect objectives and safety.
  • Adhere to the site Environmental Management Plan and be accountable for the team’s environmental obligations and performance.
  • Conduct formal meetings with the team, report weaknesses in environmental procedures, enforce departmental environmental work procedures, investigate environmental incidents in assigned work areas, prepare reports with recommendations, attend scheduled environmental training, and act on employee environmental complaints and suggestions.
  • Gather information for the Superintendent HME/LV & Trucks for performance reporting.
  • Conduct periodic audits of all vehicle and driver documentation to verify compliance with regulations.
  • Review document control mechanisms and processes to identify actions for continuous improvement.
  • Organise information for the Superintendent HME/LV & Trucks to support development of condition monitoring equipment checks.
  • Ensure pre-start checks are carried out, check sheets are completed and entered into document review, and anomalies are correctly escalated for repair and maintenance.
  • Ensure vehicles are programmed and maintained in accordance with OEM requirements to maintain asset value.
  • Set, monitor and control the quality of work to develop roster and fleet and driver movement schedules for travel and pick-up arrangements to and from the airport, Obuasi, Kumasi and Accra.
  • Analyse and trend predictive maintenance information to determine vehicle condition and report condition for action.
  • Monitor the general physical condition of plant assets and report findings.
  • Monitor preventive and corrective actions as necessary.
  • Generate work requests in SAP as required for vehicle maintenance planning and scheduling.
  • Ensure routine condition monitoring tasks are performed on rotating equipment through scheduled data collection, including oil analysis for engine and transmission, in line with AGAG instructions.
  • Gather vibration and other reported data to diagnose and troubleshoot rotating machinery problems.
  • Actively participate in maintenance review programmes and Root Cause Failure Analysis processes for AGAG and contractor vehicles as required.
  • Identify, communicate and implement potential cost reduction initiatives.
  • Propose cost saving projects.
  • Execute work in a timely manner, coordinate document and transport work to the time plan, and escalate real or potential delays.
  • Monitor equipment performance on the asset health system and take proactive measures to address symptoms of potential failure.
  • Report directly to the Superintendent on issues and identify and execute improvement projects.
  • Stop vehicles or drivers from working if there is a high risk or if they are unsafe to be used.
  • Monitor team performance against set KPI targets and provide informative and timely reports to management on the performance and status of the area of accountability within the transport department.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

 

Education & Qualification

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering with a minimum of 3 years of relevant engineering experience, or
  • Diploma in Engineering in Mechanical, Electrical, Maintenance or related discipline in line with Reg. 51 and 54 LI2182 with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or
  • Technician Part III Certificate with 5 years of experience in engineering operations.
  • Professional Engineer license preferred.
  • Inspecting Engineer Certificate of Competence from the Inspectorate Division of the Mineral Commission preferred.
  • Certificate in Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport will be an advantage.
  • Must possess valid Ghanaian license CE.

 

Experience

 

  • At least 3 years in engineering roles with supervisory experience.
  • Experience overseeing engineering teams and ensuring project completion.
  • Experience as a document control officer with mine vehicle permits, operator permits and compliance.
  • Experience in vehicle maintenance planning and scheduling.
  • Experience participating in maintenance review programmes and Root Cause Failure Analysis processes.

 

Knowledge & Skills

 

  • Understanding of Ghana Highway Codes.
  • Knowledge of SAP PM module.
  • MINCOM certified mobile equipment trainer.
