OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE

• The Technician, CIC - Processing Plant reports to the Supervisor – Process Plant and is accountable for all Plant CIC maintenance covering day and night shift in a safe and compliant manner as instructed during refurbishment and later maintenance of the Process Plant.
• The work is to be executed in accordance with detailed tasking and applicable Government of Ghana and AGAG safety and environmental requirements.

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Assess risks for all tasks and ensure they are controlled before and during task execution.
• Report all incidents and ensure investigations are completed and corrective actions are closed out on time.
• Act on all corrective actions assigned and ensure timely completion.
• Achieve compliance with set OHS KPIs and support compliance within the team.
• Adhere to the site Environmental Management Plan and comply with AGAG environmental and legal requirements.
• Take action to prevent environmental pollution and comply with operating procedures and environmental rules for assigned work.
• Correct or report observed environmental deviations, practices and conditions and suggest improvements to environmental management.
• Follow established procedures and report environmental incidents to the Supervisor.
• Gather information for the CIC Supervisor – Processing Plant for performance reporting.
• Conduct day to day inspection of all Processing Plant CIC refurbishment and later maintenance activities.
• Carry out refurbishment works and later maintenance of CIC equipment and identify actions for continuous improvement.
• Provide input to the CIC Supervisor – Processing Plant to develop condition monitoring routes and checks for correct functioning equipment.
• Execute refurbishment and later maintenance work checks on a routine scheduled basis, including visual checks, infrared data collection, ultrasonic data collection, motor current and flux data collection, and verification of output within calibration and specification.
• Analyse and trend predictive maintenance data such as vibration and infrared results to determine plant condition and report for action.
• Monitor the general physical condition of CIC assets and report findings.
• Monitor preventive and corrective actions as necessary.
• Execute repair work, where appropriate, on instrumentation, communication and control equipment.
• Generate work requests in SAP as required for refurbishment, maintenance, repair planning and scheduling.
• Ensure routine condition monitoring tasks are performed on rotating equipment using advanced portable data collectors and other tools according to established schedules and plant requirements.
• Gather vibration and other condition monitoring data to diagnose and troubleshoot rotating machinery problems.
• Actively participate in maintenance review programmes and Root Cause Failure Analysis processes for CIC equipment.
• Identify, communicate and implement potential cost reduction initiatives.
• Propose cost saving projects.
• Execute work in a timely manner, coordinate refurbishment contractors to the time plan, and escalate real or potential delays.
• Monitor equipment performance on the asset health system and take proactive measures to address symptoms of potential failure.
• Report directly to the CIC Supervisor on issues and identify and execute improvement projects.
• Stop equipment from working if there is a high risk or it is unsafe to use.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Education & Qualification

• Technician II Certificate or equivalent OR
• Associate degree or technical diploma in Engineering Technology or related field OR
• City and Guilds certificate part II
• MINCOM certification will be an added advantage

Experience

• 1-2 years in technical roles, preferably in the mining industry.
• Experience in extractive metallurgy and or mining environment.
• Demonstrated understanding of good supervising practices and implementation of proactive maintenance strategies.
• Demonstrated ability for project delivery.
• Proven ability to initiate and drive the construction project through its life cycle.

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of SAP PM module.
• Strong instrumentation and electronic maintenance competencies.
• Sound project management skills.
• Analytical skills to evaluate information and solve complex problems.
• Detail oriented with the ability to understand complex systems and recognise that minor errors can cause major problems.
• Commercially astute and able to work effectively with third parties.
• Legally astute with respect to project delivery and maintenance systems.
• Excellent skills in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Project and Excel.
• Ability to communicate technical issues effectively both orally and in writing.
• Knowledge of AGA standards.
• Knowledge of OEM legalities and mining regulations.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel from technical teams to management and executive level.
• Ability to delegate tasks appropriately and assign workers to oversee areas of a project.
• Ability to evaluate progression and adherence to deadlines on a routine basis.
• Ability to re-prioritise planned activities and tasks.
• Problem solving ability to identify solutions that others have not considered.
