In Australia, we own the Sunrise Dam Gold Mine, and70% own and manage the Tropicana Gold Mine with Regis Resources Limited (30%) through the Tropicana Joint Venture. These are two of Western Australia’s premier gold operations, with ongoing investment and exploration taking place across both open pit and underground operations.
The Role
Location: Perth Office (5/2 roster) with occasional site travel
Reporting to the Director – Studies (Projects), this role provides technical leadership and engineering expertise to support project studies across the AGA Australian Region. The position focuses on paste fill operations, underground mining optimisation, mine design, scheduling, and cost analysis.
Accountabilities
- Provide technical leadership and governance for mining studies, ensuring compliance with AGA Project Standards and decision gate requirements.
- Lead and coordinate paste fill studies, delivering safe, technically robust, and commercially sound outcomes.
- Identify and deliver underground mining optimisation opportunities through data-driven analysis and trade-off studies.
- Develop and maintain mine designs and schedules aligned with operational plans and financial forecasts.
- Build and maintain cost models and financial analyses to support project evaluation and business decisions.
- Identify project risks and opportunities and implement mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver integrated study outcomes and clear technical recommendations.
- Drive continuous improvement in mine planning processes, tools, and methodologies.
About you:
The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree in mining, Geological, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline, with 8–12+ years’ experience in mine planning, optimisation, and technical studies. They will have supported Concept, PFS, and/or Feasibility (FS) studies, worked in multidisciplinary project environments, and contributed to practical, executable plans at operating sites. Experience with paste fill projects or operations is desirable.
Strong analytical skills are required to interpret geological, operational, and financial data, along with experience developing study scopes, schedules, and cost inputs. Knowledge of mining value drivers, project governance, and technical assurance processes is essential. Exposure to multiple commodities, mining methods, or international jurisdictions is advantageous. Candidates must have Australian working rights and a valid Australian manual driver’s license.
