Senior Specialist Paste Fill
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Director: Underground Mining, we currently seek a highly competent Senior Specialist Paste Fill based on a 5:2 roster.
This position requires on-site presence with travel to the operations. Applicants should be prepared for international travel. This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to be based in Perth, Johannesburg or Denver and have the ability to travel and work in Ghana, Guinea, Tanzania, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Colombia, DRC, Egypt and the US in diverse and challenging operations.
Role Purpose:
To provide whole of process operational and technical expertise for paste fill systems across all underground assets within the Anglo Gold Ashanti portfolio including operations, projects and JVs in Ghana, Guinea, Tanzania, Egypt, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Colombia, DRC and US.
Accountabilities:
- Provide support and technical knowledge for paste fill planning and operations including input and advice to all operations and projects, driving continuous improvement in fill planning, operational execution, and safety practices as part of operational excellence.
- Provide expert advice on implementing and optimising of the entire paste fill value chain from surface plant operations to final underground placement.
- Collaborate closely with the business units in determining the optimal Life of Mine (LoM) paste fill strategies for AGA’s Underground operations and projects, ensuring alignment with stope sequencing, exposure design, and extraction cycles.
- Assist in the development of paste fill projects identifying opportunities, troubleshooting bottlenecks and provide coaching to engineers and operators
- Investigate business and operational opportunities through mining related technologies and oversee testing trials as required.
- Maintain and support appropriate Policy, Guidelines and Standards, and subsequent monitoring and reporting of compliance to those standards
About You

- A minimum of 10 years working experience in the mining industry across varying paste fill plant operations
- Strong analytical capability to troubleshoot and resolve critical paste plant and delivery system disruptions in operational environments.
- Advanced skills in paste fill related Mine design optimisation and QA/QC implementation from the plant to the stope.
- Demonstrated delivery of paste fill solutions, understanding of paste plant automation and control systems, and implementation of continuous improvements to support the short term and strategic mine plans
- Commercial acumen relevant to the role including financial reporting and exposure to contracts and contract management
- Demonstrated capability in organising work, setting priorities, and exercising sound independent judgement and preparedness to take a well-reasoned stand on matters of importance.
- A natural ability to lead and work effectively with high performers and with internal and external technical teams.
- A cultural awareness and willingness to explore and embrace different cultures and values
- Highly effective interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise with people at all levels within our organisation and interact with high-performing professional teams
- Preparedness to undertake extensive business travel
- A degree qualification in a relevant mining-related Engineering or other technical discipline is desirable
- Able to provide a current National Police Clearance
- Have existing and ongoing valid working rights in country where role is situated, and/or ability to gain visas for identified regions
