We are seeking a Specialist Project Engineering to join our Projects and Construction team, in a Regional role that will predominantly be based at our Sunrise Dam Gold Mine. Reporting to the Director Projects and Construction, this fixed term (12 months) role is offered on a 4/3 or equivalent FIFO roster from Perth. Direct charter flights to and from Sunrise Dam are provided. 

As this is a Regional role, there will be some time required in the Perth Office to integrate planning of projects with the Engineering and Project Management functions of the Projects Department.

 

About the role

The primary focus of the role will be to integrate the project execution process between the project design/ scoping discipline, and the construction team delivering projects on Site.  This includes implementation planning, procurement tasks, construction, commissioning, and handover for the assigned projects within scope, budget and schedule. All projects are to be executed in compliance with the AGA Global Project Standards and the Australia Region Project framework.

  • Engaging with stakeholders to define project requirements and outcomes.
  • Provide support for implementing systems to align and improve the HSE performance on projects during the construction phase on site.
  • Provide support to the individual project managers to execute projects according to approved project management plans and where applicable, take the lead in developing   project  management documents and planning.
  • Participate and lead project procurement activities to ensure cost efficient project execution and integrate cost saving opportunities across the portfolio of projects.
  • Coordinate the transfer of scopes of work into work packages, construction methodology and quality-based plans to ensure projects are delivered according to the approved project plans.    
  • Scope management of projects – reviewing design drawings, scopes of work and carrying out work package planning for site execution according to project plans.
  • Schedule management – reviewing project schedules against site requirements and monitoring and reporting on progress.
  • Cost management – Managing works based on either lump sum or schedule of rates contracts, identifying cost saving opportunities and synergies between work packages and  contractors across sites.  Review and assist in completing cost forecasts.
  • Quality management – Implementing Quality Management Plans to address GA/QC requirements for the work packages.  Tracking progress of completed works checksheets and monitoring compliance to design.  Completions planning and Site stakeholder engagement, including punchlisting, walkdowns and construction verification.
  • Contractor management – Review of project management plans and following up on contractual requirements during project execution.
  • Site integration – working with site teams to ensure works are planned in within existing planning routines, Shutdowns, and minimise production impact from project work.  
  • Communication with all stakeholders on progress and potential interactions.

About you

You’ll bring a strong mix of technical know-how and practical experience to the team. To be considered, you should have:

  • Degree in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical or Process Engineering recognised by the Institute of Engineers Australia.
  • Post graduate qualifications in project management would be advantageous.
  • A minimum of 4 years’ experience within the mining industry with at least 2 years experience in construction/ infrastructure projects in brownfields and Greenfields environments.
  • Experience with processing plants and site infrastructure including pumping, piping, comminution, underground infrastructure and NPI.
  • Experience in project execution, preferably within an Owners’ team environment, and exposure to managing EPCM, mining and construction contractors.
  • Experience in developing project cost estimates, forecasts, cashflow and schedules.
  • Experience with the engagement and management of engineering consultants and contractors.
  • High level of software skills including MS Offices 365 suite of tools, SAP and MS Project.

  • Be flexible with work and travel arrangements. The role will be based predominantly (>75%) on Site, but time in Perth and, potentially at another AGAA site in WA may be required as well as support during Shutdown/ ad-hoc periods.
  • A valid WA C Class Driver’s license.
  • A National Police Clearance.
  • Knowledge of the Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations, and other relevant Australian Standards.
  • Existing and ongoing Permanent work rights in Australia (mandatory).
