The Obuasi Redevelopment Project has attained its original project schedule to become a modern efficient processing and underground mechanized operation, and it is now moving to achieving study state operation with the final aim of achieving 5000 tonnes per day processing.

ROLE PURPOSE
The purpose of the Project Engineer is to plan, coordinate, and manage the technical aspects of mining projects to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective delivery. The Project Engineer plays a key role in driving project progress, resolving technical challenges, and contributing to the successful completion of mining infrastructure and operational projects within scope, budget, and timeline. The Project Engineer will work closely with other departments to coordinate and communicate any necessary adjustments to project works, ensuring that processes run smoothly and efficiently. In the event of irregularities or emergencies, the Project Engineer will take prompt action to resolve issues and maintain compliance. In addition, the Project Engineer plays an essential role in promoting safety culture, hazard awareness, and ensuring that relevant mining and statutory codes and regulations are fully adhered to in the underground environment.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Assess risks for all tasks and ensure they are controlled before and during task execution.
- Report all incidents and ensure they have been investigated and corrective actions completed on time.
- Act on all corrective actions assigned and ensure timely completion.
- Investigate all environmental incidents in assigned work areas and prepare reports with recommendations for the Departmental Manager for onward submission to the Environmental Manager or his representative.
- Develop and maintain detailed project scopes, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates, and ensure alignment with operational needs and stakeholder expectations.
- Monitor and report on project performance in terms of scope, cost, quality, risk, and schedule; identify variances and implement corrective actions where necessary.
- Assist in the delivering of the project work function within approved budget targets and specified timeframes, costs and related KPIs
- Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and coordinate meetings, prepare agendas, take minutes, and track action items.
- Recommend innovative approach for conducting and implementing projects and research in the production process and procedures
- Report on the development and progress of initiatives and enhancements of the production function, to include outputs and befits obtained.
- Present solutions to specific problems with defined resolution methodologies and resources to deliver improved performance in processes and procedures
- Monitor and report on the outcomes and standards of work from direct reports or field personnel and contractors
- Optimize procedures within existing functional processes through the application of problem identification and resolution methodologies
- Establish and maintain consistent team performance and relationships within the function and cross-functionally within the department
QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE AND TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Project Management.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification is an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum of 1 to 3 years relevant experience in a similar role.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project and AutoCAD is considered a strong asset.
- Strong knowledge in Mining Project practices.
Technical Competencies
- Strong knowledge in project management practices and demonstrate ability in supporting mining projects.
- Ability to develop, manage, and optimize detailed project schedules using tools such as Microsoft Project ensuring alignment with project scope, milestones, and deadlines.
- Ability to develop technical scopes of work, evaluate contractor capabilities, and oversee compliance with technical, safety, and quality requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good communication and writing skills
- Skills in Business improvement and managing change
- Strategic exposure to business will be an added advantage
