We currently have an exciting new venture, where we seek a Senior Exploration Geologist to join the Global Greenfields Explorations (GFX) business unit. The role leads the development of geological and mineral system models to enhance gold exploration targeting, while planning and supervising safe, sustainable exploration programs.

 

You will also manage and collaborate with geoscientists, specialists, and business partners to progress projects and achieve key performance outcomes.

 

Based in Mackay, Queensland, this is a permanent opportunity that operates on a variable, field and office-based roster cycle.

 

Accountabilities:

 

  • Develop geological and mineral system models to improve targeting of gold mineralisation.
  • Plan, implement, and oversee exploration programs in a safe and sustainable manner.
  • Lead and manage a team of geoscientists, collaborating with specialists and business partners to deliver exploration outcomes and meet KPIs.
  • Drive short- to medium-term exploration activities (12–24 months) aligned with project objectives.
  • Ensure delivery of work to required standards of quality, time, and process compliance.
  • Identify process improvements and remove barriers to progress.
  • Manage team performance, resources, and budgets effectively.
  • Support capability development through performance management and individual development planning.

 

About You:

To be considered, we are looking for;

 

  • Degree qualified in Geology (BSc Hons or MSc) with 7+ years’ exploration experience (10+ preferred), ideally in gold.
  • Strong technical capability across exploration methods, including geochemistry, structural geology, mapping, GIS, drilling, and geophysics.
  • Skilled in integrating complex data to develop geological models and generate exploration targets.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and manage teams.
  • Strong understanding of safety, environmental, ESG, and stakeholder engagement requirements.
  • Commercially aware with knowledge of exploration, mining, and risk management.
  • Highly organised with strong reporting, presentation, and relevant software skills.
  • Australian working rights and a current passport holder.
