We are now seeking an experienced Senior OP Mining Engineer to join our Open Pit Mining team at Sunrise Dam on a site-based roster (4:3 with some 8:6) from Perth.

Accountable to the Manager of Surface Projects, this permanent position is responsible for producing mine designs for the open pit mine to meet budget physicals in alignment with the mine plan and strategy, consistent with Company’s Vision and Values.

 

Accountabilities:

  • Contribute towards systems within the Surface Mining Department which deliver mine plans for execution and maximise the value of the open pit orebody.
  • Aid in building organisational capability within the Surface Mining Department to successfully deliver the Mining Department budget and Life of Mine plan.
  • Deliver all work packages required for the Surface Mining production department and plan the work of the Planning Engineer to deliver the required work packages.  
  • Develop and contribute towards systems for the Surface Mining Department to provide effective planning of work, efficient and safe work practices, and monitoring of work practices.
  • Support “Full Asset Potential” initiatives, helping to drive value creation within the Surface Mining Department. 
  • Provide a safe work environment, provide input into SHE&C plans and procedures, management systems and processes within the surface mining team.
  • Develop and maintain constructive relationships with colleagues, business partners, and other stakeholders, utilising these relationships to successfully resolve issues if, or when, they arise.
  • Accountable for applying Management and People Practices within the Surface Mining Department

 

About You

  • Degree in Mining Engineering or relevant discipline.
  • Previous years operational experience in an open pit mine.
  • Experience in mine design and scheduling software (Alastri and or Deswik, Vulcan and or Surpac)
  • Broad range of leadership and technical skills relevant to large scale bulk and semi selective open pit mining.
  • Sound understanding of the mining value and risk drivers in the business unit.
  • Experience in mine planning, open pit drill and blast and open pit mine operations.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Good report writing skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
