We are currently seeking a Senior Specialist: Sustainability to join the global Greenfields Explorations business unit.

Reporting to the VP of Sustainability, the role purpose is to
provide technical leadership, advice and guidance of health, safety, environment, community and security (HSECS) functions within Greenfields Exploration (GFX) and support all countries where Greenfields Exploration is currently operating, ensuring consistency with AngloGold Ashanti values of creating a safe working environment where safety is the first value.

In conjunction with leadership and in line with corporate guidance, this role will support and execute the HSECS deliverables for Greenfields Exploration and work to ensure successful outcomes and continued strategic alignment.
 

Whilst this is ideally a Perth based role, this will require regular travel to our seven international regions.
 

Accountabilities:
 

  • To assist in the implementation of sustainability within assigned project areas
  • Collaborate closely with all GFX regional teams, in the development of integrated sustainability plans
  • Grow and foster a proactive safety culture within the teams, while enforcing GFX protocols and managing risks.
  • Support the management team to create a culture and vision aligned to AGA values
  • Raise sustainability awareness, provide technical advice, and utilisation of audit tools whilst having oversight of evidence-based responses, findings, and action planning as required.
  • Maintain sustainability systems and provide input into system improvements
  • Provide technical leadership for HSECS, support regional resources, and ensure the integration of HSECS functions in new projects.
  • Comply with legal, regulatory and statutory requirements, manage performance, and develop team capabilities to meet desired outcomes.
  • Build a network of relationships both within and external to AGA to ensure the GFX sustainability functions are operating to sound and good practices and are in line with stakeholder expectations.

 

About You:

  • Hold professional qualifications in safety, health, or a related discipline.
  • Significant working experience in health and safety management in mining, preferably with exposure to exploration activities and preferably with HSEC formal qualifications. Exposure to environmental management, community and security disciplines will be well regarded.
  • Bring a practical baseline knowledge of exploration and mining including drilling operations, remote field activities, aviation, integrated management systems, management plans, auditing, risk assessment, incident investigation and reporting.
  • Display flexibility with regard to challenging tasks and assignment of priorities.
  • Demonstrated and influential leadership in the management of safety, health, environment, security, cultural heritage, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Sound cross-cultural and cross-functional communication skills.
  • A willingness to work with a diverse team comprising of technical and operational members.
  • Adhering and standing by our core values with a number one focus on safety.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office suite, SharePoint, MS Teams and learning new systems.
  • Fluent English both verbally and written. Other spoken languages will be well regarded
  • Medically fit to work in remote locations and to adhere to relevant vaccination requirements.
  • Australian working rights and a current passport holder.
