We are currently seeking an Occupational Hygienist to join our Health, Safety and Emergency Response team.
Reporting to the Health & Hygiene Superintendent, this role delivers Occupational Hygiene testing services and provides technical expertise, primarily based at Sunrise Dam Gold Mine with occasional visits to Tropicana and the Perth office. This role is offered on an 8/6 fly-in, fly-out roster with flights to each site from Perth or Kalgoorlie.
About the role
- Deliver activities in accordance with the Health Management Plan, SEG based Risk Assessments & Sampling plans.
- Review/implement and log field observations including verification of Critical health controls and QA QC data inputs.
- Conduct airborne contaminant and noise sampling across AGAA sites.
- Conduct potable water sampling to the Site Drinking water Quality management Plan.
- Assess and review work practices and work environments to identify and provide solutions to adequately control identified health hazards.
- Undertake Fit testing for Respiratory and Hearing PPE.
- Undertake exposure control assessments across a variety of contaminants based on risk.
- Maintain calibration and maintenance of all Hygiene equipment
- Report occupational hygiene exposure data to internal and external stakeholders
- Conduct QAQC activities and lead investigations into occupational hygiene exceedances
- Provide subject matter expert advice and support to line management on hygiene related health risks, controls and improvement opportunities.
- Undertake audit and assurance activities to ensure compliance
- Develop and deliver site hygiene-based training packages
- Liaising with statutory and regulatory bodies
About you

- Demonstrated experience in occupational hygiene principles, practice and application. Previous experience in a similar role, preferably within the mining industry would be highly advantageous
- Understanding of OHS systems, hazard identification and risk assessments
- Qualifications in occupational Hygiene, Noise assessments, Mine Air Quality Officer and Noise Assessments are essential
- Strong knowledge of analytical and data interpretation with report preparation skills
- Sound knowledge of HSE systems and risk management processes
- Proficiency in health and hygiene databases and Microsoft Office tools would be beneficial but not essential
- Proven interpersonal, influencing, communication and motivating skills
- Strong attention to detail and an organized methodical approach to task planning and completion
- Willingness to learn, to guide, and be guided.
- Ability to obtain a National Police Clearance
- A current ‘C’ class Western Australian driver’s license
- Ongoing permanent work rights in Australia are mandatory
