Geita Gold Mining Ltd (GGML) is Tanzania’s leading gold producer with a single operation in Geita Region. The company is a subsidiary of AngloGold Ashanti, an international gold producer headquartered in Denver, USA. AGA has operations in more than ten countries across four continents. The mine is situated in the Lake Victoria Gold fields of Northwestern Tanzania, only about 120 km’s from Mwanza City and 20 km’s Southeast of the nearest point of Lake Victoria. The company has its main office and operations in Geita, only 5 Km’s west of the fast-growing town of Geita, and a supporting office in Dar es Salaam. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

 To support the Heavy Mining Equipment (HME) in ensuring GGML is in compliance with all government, internal and insurance environmental requirements, and to ensure that all securing related projects are completed in a cost – effective manner.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Form IV Secondary Education with VETA Trade Test Certificate Grade One/Level Three in Mechanic.
• Full Technician Certificate  (FTC) in Mechanical Engineering.
• Diploma or Degree in Automotive Mechanical Engineering will be an added advantage.
• Must have a valid Tanzania driving license.

EXPERIENCE:

• A Minimum of 3 years’ working experience as a Mechanic in the maintenance of BELL Trucks especially 835L, Normet Machines, R2900 Loader, AD60, Different Model of Mining CAT (Caterpillars Machines), RH 40 & 170 Excavators and MT 4400AC.
• One year of  experience in supervisory role will be an added advantage.
• Proven experience in Troubleshooting and maintenance work on BELL and CAT Equipment.
• Abilty to use special diagnosis tools and reading schematic diagram.

            MAIN OR KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Conduct inspection on parked equipment’s to identify potential lube drainage/leaks to avoid risk of environmental contamination.
• Ensure that the work is performed to the OEM’S up standard and ensure quality of work to increase up time after the equipment is released to production.
• Execute all mining equipment maintenance tasks assigned following approved work procedures.
• Be able to plan work before execution.
• Advising your manager of any situations or condition that could create obstacles to or opportunities for the work of managerial team or company.
• Disclosing timely information to Senior supervisor/manager when accountability cannot be met within limits or can be met with less time or resources than planned.
• Improvement on the maintenance of moving machines.
• Building and sustaining a team spirit with subordinates, capable of producing high quality output
• Meet work delivery deadlines to minimize the demand for resources without exceeding the required by date for work completion.
• Well maintained Engineering Standards, Specifications and SOPs.
• Demonstrate positive safe act attitude.
• Complete assigned task with required standard (No re-do job).
• Demonstrates keen interest in self-development.

               ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Be able to read and understand maintenance manual book.
• Ensure equipment release checklist is completed before equipment is released.
• Provide quality oversight for component rebuild to ensure the components overhaul meet OEM as a minimum standard for overhaul.
• Possess interpersonal skills to get the job done on time without compromising Safety and Quality.
• Honest and open minded.
• Must have good written and oral communications skills in English language.
• Able to show initiative and coordination skills and be able to interact with cross functional teams.
