PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
To support the Senior Supervisor's accountabilities by coordinating Shift Crews, providing leadership, and applying operational skills to ensure efficient production operations and associated infrastructure on a shift basis. This role will contribute to achieving all set KPIs by coordinating Process Plant Production activities with a focus on optimal and cost-effective production. Maintaining a visible presence in the field, the incumbent will promote a safe and productive work environment in line with company standards.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Form IV or Form VI Secondary Education or Diploma in mineral processing or Bachelor degree in mineral processing Engineering.
• Computer literate with MS Office skills.
EXPERIENCE:
• A minimum of 5 years of working experience in the Gold Process Plant is essential.
• Knowledge on Milling processing control parameters.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• At least one or two process mobile equipment operations (skid loader, Front end loader, Folk lift, Backhoe or Tele handler) knowledge.
MAIN OR KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Safety Health and Environment
• Monitor and maintain good housekeeping in the crusher section in line with standard guidelines for safety and environment.
• Conduct crew meetings (toolbox) on shift basis (documented proof) – every shift, every section (each employee under his/her supervision is expected to attend such meeting every shift).
• Issue of and compliance with PPE requirements including proper use of PPE.
• Safety, health and environmental risk management on shift.
• Mini risk assessments if not routine jobs are conducted.
• Team risk assessment.
• Conduct safety and workplace inspections, including hazard identification, incident reporting and submitting weekly and monthly leading indicators.
• Ensure GGM safety standards, policies & procedures are adhered to all times.
• Encourage zero harm and injuries initiative by actively promoting health and safety awareness within the team.
• Works without risk or harm to self and others.
2. People
• Planning and execution of all electrical activities (planned and unplanned) to achieve the targeted availability for the plant and supporting outside section.
• Scheduling, planning and execution of periodic electrical related maintenance for process plant outside sections.
• Managing and supervising the electrical crew in conducting maintenance duties.
• Ensuring electrical repairs and installations for process plant and supporting outside section are carried out as per professional standard and effectively (in your area of responsibility).
3. Production
Specific accountabilities on production:
• Supervise and motivate the daily activities of the Production team.
• Ensure safe and efficient operation of all crushing facilities.
• Monitor ROM blends, ore stockpiles, and follow up mining equipment availability.
• Achieving production targets i.e., daily crushed tonnage.
• Each operator understands targets and his/her role in delivering on these targets.
• Quicky and effective response to breakdowns.
• Corrective action should be done internal by Urgent Crew and escalate to Senior Supervisor Production Operations OR Maintenance if required.
• Crushing Plant parameters control.
• Maintain plant parameters in accordance with daily/standing instructions set by Senior Supervisor or Metallurgist.
• Review production Log sheet and assist the crusher control room to categories the downtime correctly.
• Accuracy of breakdown information conveyed to both engineering and Production Operations manager.
• Minimize lead time to have breakdown addressed by appropriate personnel.
• Preparing end of shift production reports accurately and timely.
• Conduct Shift handover meetings
• Regularly inspect the work area and work groups to identify defects before they impact on the plant uptime.
• Crushing circuit shutdowns preparations (cleaning dump pockets, surge bin and chutes).
4. Underground scrap metals/steel/meshes sorting
• Ensure underground scrap metal/steel/meshes sorting is happening throughout the shift safely at CV09,10and CV13 when the circuit is in operation. Also, regular inspections must be done on CV16.
• Regularly clean and remove all scrap metals sorted out and move them to laydown area – scrap metals yard.
5. Communication
• Linked with cross-functional communication.
• Communicate systems failures and outages with maintenance groups and management.
• Adhere to call out protocol.
6. Continues Improvement
• Drive the continuous improvement program within the production function.
• Engage the team on ideas that ensure improvements of mill/treatment section in terms of safe, production and cost.
7. Cost management
• Equipment utilization (running units without feed, damage, optimal usage, etc.).
• Control PPE issue (prevent abuse of free issue).
8. Team management
• Team discipline management.
• Training and development.
• Identifies the development needs of operator to improve the workforce and notify the senior Supervisor.
• Time keeping.
