THE OPPORTUNITY

Step into a pivotal leadership role at Iduapriem Mine as the Director: Geology and Exploration. In this capacity, you will oversee the vital function that underpins the sustainable expansion of our mineral resources and supports gold production delivery through expert exploration, meticulous resource modelling, and robust geological governance. This senior position offers the unique chance to define and execute the geology and exploration strategy within our Africa Business Unit, significantly impacting the growth trajectory and technical excellence of Iduapriem's operations.

Reporting directly to senior executive leadership, your visionary leadership will guide all exploration activities, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and market demands. You will play a central role in expanding our resource base, enhancing operational efficiencies, and maintaining rigorous compliance with international standards. This role is based on-site at the Iduapriem Mine, offering direct engagement with operational and technical teams.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Develop and implement a forward-looking exploration strategy for Iduapriem Mine that integrates the broader ambitions of the company and adapts to evolving market and environmental dynamics.
• Proactively identify, evaluate, and lead the pursuit of new exploration opportunities including acquisitions, joint ventures, as well as greenfield and brownfield projects to ensure a continuous and sustainable resource pipeline.
• Strategize and execute long-term resource growth and reserve replacement initiatives, securing the mine’s production capabilities for the future.
• Serve as a key advisor to executive leadership and the Board on geological risks, opportunities, and strategic decisions, providing clear, data-driven insights to support effective governance.
• Authorize and supervise all drilling programs, carefully managing budget allocations and endorsing resource modelling methodologies to uphold technical precision and financial prudence.
• Maintain the highest integrity and accuracy of geological data reporting, ensuring compliance with international codes such as JORC and NI 43-101.
• Lead and inspire a multidisciplinary team of geologists and technical experts through mentorship and professional development, fostering a culture of innovation, safety, and technical mastery.
• Design and implement succession plans to cultivate future leaders and enhance the technical expertise of geology and exploration teams.
• Oversee mineral resource estimation, classification, and ensure adherence to annual reporting requirements in line with AngloGold Ashanti’s corporate standards.
• Provide technical guidance and oversight throughout feasibility studies and life-of-mine planning to support sound operational decision-making.
• Manage grade control drilling activities, enforce rigorous sampling QAQC protocols, and monitor external laboratory performance to guarantee exceptional data quality.
• Optimize ore mining, stockpile management, and production tracking to reduce ore loss and dilution, thereby maximizing grade consistency delivered to processing.
• Drive comprehensive mine-to-mill reconciliation efforts by analyzing operational data to identify and implement improvements.
• Ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements and embed Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles into all exploration practices.

Qualifications:

• A Master’s Degree (MSc) or a Bachelor’s Degree with Honours (BSc Hons) in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a closely related discipline.

Experience & Skills:

• Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in mining geology and exploration, focusing on open pit gold mining environments.
• At least 8 years in senior leadership positions with proven capabilities in managing geology teams and delivering comprehensive exploration programs.
• Demonstrated expertise in mineral resource estimation, exploration planning, and operational mine geology achievements.
• Qualification or eligibility to obtain the Minerals Commission Competency Certificate for Geology Manager and possession of a valid driver's license.
• Advanced proficiency in 3D geological modelling and resource estimation software applications.
• Experience acting as a Mineral Resource Qualified Person (QP) for gold deposits, with robust knowledge of international reporting standards like JORC or NI 43-101.
• Strong strategic thinking to translate complex geological datasets into practical, impactful business strategies.
• Solid financial literacy and commercial insight related to budgeting, costing, and economic evaluations of exploration ventures.
• Excellent communication, influencing abilities, and stakeholder management across executive and operational audiences.
• Comprehensive understanding of mining exploration regulatory frameworks both within Ghana and internationally.
• A passion for creating an inclusive, collaborative working environment that promotes safety, innovation, and sustainability.
