Summary of the role
To manage tax responsibilities in the UK in line with the overall Group Tax Strategy, including Tax Compliance, Tax Accounting and Reporting, Tax Controls and Risk Management, Tax Planning and Stakeholder Engagement.
Education & Qualifications
Graduate Degree in Finance/ Business/ Law/ Chartered accountant.
General Knowledge & Experience
5 years in taxation.
Commercial Acumen, tax technical, international tax principles, dispute resolution.
Conflict resolution, analytical skills, communication, networking, teamwork, building effective working relationships.
Role Accountabilities
Provide UK technical tax support to the region as directed by Global Tax Director and VP: Global Tax.
Lead and manage all tax audits and investigations in the UK for direct and indirect taxes.
In consultation with the Global Tax director and Group Tax manage the engagement and appointment of External Tax Advisors.
To prepare and reconcile corporate tax and deferred tax calculations to ensure accurate recording of corporate tax and deferred tax expense in the financials on a monthly basis, for all operating UK entities.
To review and maintain the tax asset register and tax schedules to ensure an accurate deduction in terms of legislation on a monthly basis.
Regular monitoring and highlighting of tax exposures and providing remedies.
Assist during times of audit by the respective external auditors.
Assist the various business units with tax inputs into their budget and project appraisal models.
Provide tax advice to the business unit e.g. reviewing contracts, business plans and advice on restructuring to minimise the tax exposure.
In co-ordination with the Global Tax Director and Group Tax (where required), represent AGA before HMRC.
Maintain a network of key contacts in government, tax specialists and law firms that allow for early warning of impending tax changes and as necessary initiate negotiations/ lobby for changes that will mitigate the impact on business units.
Prepare and file all corporate tax filings (direct & indirect). Assist, where applicable, with employee and employer taxes, expatriate taxes, PAYE, SDL, withholding taxes and all other tax filings required under UK Tax Laws.
Manage the accurate and timely payment of taxes and submission of tax returns for all UK tax resident entities.
Remuneration
As per the AGA salary scales.
