Geita Gold Mining Ltd (GGML) is Tanzania’s leading gold producer with a single operation in Geita Region. The company is a subsidiary of AngloGold Ashanti, an international gold producer headquartered in Denver, USA. AGA has operations in more than ten countries across four continents. The mine is situated in the Lake Victoria Gold fields of Northwestern Tanzania, only about 120 km’s from Mwanza City and 20 km’s Southeast of the nearest point of Lake Victoria. The company has its main office and operations in Geita, only 5 Km’s west of the fast-growing town of Geita, and a supporting office in Dar es Salaam. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

 To support the Heavy Mining Equipment (HME) in ensuring GGML is in compliance with all government, internal and insurance environmental requirements, and to ensure that all securing related projects are completed in a cost – effective manner.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Certificate of Secondary School Education with VETA Trade Test Certificate Grade One/ Trade Test Level Three  in Mechanic or its equivalent.

• Full Technician Certificates (FTC) /Diploma in Automotive/Mechanical Engineering.
• Must have  Tanzania Driving License and be able to drive in mining environment.

EXPERIENCE:

• At least 4years working experience as a Mechanic in the maintenance of BELL Trucks especially 835L,Normet Machines, R2900 Loader, AD60, Different Model of Mining CAT (Caterpillars Machines), RH 40 & 170 Excavators and MT 4400AC.
• Proven experience in Troubleshooting and maintenance work on BELL and CAT Equipment.

                  MAIN OR KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Ensure that the work is conducted in a safe working practice and procedures.
• Conduct inspection on parked equipment’s to identify potential lube drainage/leaks to avoid risk of environmental contamination.
• Execute all mining equipment maintenance tasks assigned following approved work procedures.
• Ensure all tasks are performed safely according to GGM Safety Standards procedures.
• Committing your best endeavors and full capability to work assigned to you by your manager.
• Disclosing timely information to Senior supervisor/manager when accountability cannot be met within limits or can be met with less time or resources than planned.
• Ensure that the work is performed to the OEM’S up standard and ensure quality of work to increase up time after the equipment is released to production.
• Be able to plan work before execution.
• Carry out work as required or directed.
• Meet work delivery deadlines to minimize the demand for resources without exceeding the required by date for work completion.

            ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Be able to read and understand maintenance manual book.
• Ensure quality of workmanship on all tasks which are executed.
• Ensure equipment release checklist is completed before equipment is released.
• Provide quality oversight for component rebuild to ensure the components overhaul meet OEM as a minimum standard for overhaul.
