We are currently seeking a Senior Metallurgist : Technical to join the wider Metallurgy Technical Services team at our Tropicana Gold Mine.
Accountable to the Superintendent: Metallurgy Technical Projects; this role is responsible for performing plant data and trend analysis, identifying gaps and improvement opportunities, evaluating initiatives, planning and executing projects to optimise throughput/recovery/costs, utilizing reporting platforms to summarise data, and overseeing all process control system (PCS) changes.
This role is offered on an 8 days on, 6 days off FIFO roster, with flights directly to Tropicana from either Perth or Kalgoorlie.
Accountabilities:
- Provide technical support and data-driven optimization strategies for crushing, milling, gravity, leaching (CIL/CIP), and elution/electrowinning circuits
- Perform cost/benefit analysis on plant-related initiatives and track post-implementation project benefits against key cost drivers.
- Ensure strict alignment and data compliance with the International Cyanide Management Code (ICMC)
- Identify deficiencies in plant performance particularly around circuit variability, reagent consumption, and process bottlenecks and provide data-driven recommendations.
- Routine monitoring of Process Control systems, control loops, and process histograms to identify continuous improvement opportunities.
- Conduct options analysis, validate vendor pricing, and build robust business cases for capital project proposals.
- Lead and participate in formal multi-disciplinary design reviews, equipment commissioning, and operational readiness tracking.
- Lead and participate in plant production loss investigations and all PCS related incidents
- Manage outstanding project actions, update operational documentation, and lead technical training to ensure operators understand and fully utilize new process control systems.
- Look at critical control verifications and participate in plant safety inspections to ensure new projects and current installations are safe and fit for purpose.
About You

- Prior experience in a similar role within the mining industry, preferably in gold processing plants
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering (Metallurgy, Process or Chemical Engineering Preferred)
- Demonstrated experience in plant commissioning, operational readiness planning, and successfully transitioning capital projects to production
- Proven track record of executing data-driven debottlenecking strategies and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce circuit variability
- Advanced application of process science, process control and engineering science
- In depth knowledge of crushing, screening, milling, CIL, elution and electrowinning processes
- Familiarity with Lean & Six Sigma would be highly advantageous
- Knowledge and practical experience of project management principles are desired
