THE OPPORTUNITY 

 

The Graduate Trainee – Early Careers & Diversity is an entry-level professional development role designed to build foundational expertise in youth employment strategies, corporate diversity initiatives, and community/institutional relations. Under the direct guidance of the Talent Acquisition Specialist, the Trainee will provide essential day-to-day administrative, logistical, and operational support to help execute early-career recruitment programs and drive diversity and inclusion targets.

 

This program serves as a practical learning platform for a highly collaborative and organized graduate to transition from academic theory to corporate talent execution. By engaging with key universities, student bodies, and prominent professional institutions, alongside diversity groups, the Trainee will master the logistics of large-scale talent outreach. Through assisting with candidate tracking, event planning, and early-career branding projects, the Trainee will develop the core competencies required for a progressive career in corporate Talent Acquisition and HR.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

    • Maintain communication with university career services, mining engineering departments, student bodies, and professional organizations across key operating regions.
    • Provide logistical and administrative support for university career fairs, professional institution networking events, and campus recruitment drives.
    • Update and maintain a centralized database of top-tier universities, professional institution student chapters, graduation timelines, and key contacts.
    • Support initiatives with regional and national chapters of Women in Mining (WIM) and other diversity advocacy groups to attract female talents.
    • Assist in coordinating logistics for workshops, mentorship programs, and networking events aimed at positioning the company as an employer of choice for female STEM professionals.
    • Help compile and organize diversity data across the recruitment funnel to track progress toward female representation targets.
    • Provide administrative support across the end-to-end recruitment process for Graduate and Internship Programs, including interview scheduling and onboarding preparation.
    • Serve as a primary point of contact for early-career candidates, ensuring a positive candidate experience.
    • Assist in documenting and tracking structured rotational pathways and development plans for hired graduates.
    • Collaborate with internal marketing and communications teams to gather content for early-career professionals.
    • Help disseminate branding materials that highlight company work culture and female success stories to inspire the next generation of mining professionals.

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIRED & EXPERIENCE

 

To qualify for the Africa Business Unit Graduate Trainee Programme, applicants MUST:

  • be a Ghanaian citizen
  • have graduated between 2022 and 2024
  • have completed their mandatory National Service and possess a valid National Service certificate
  • eligible applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration (HR Option), Psychology, Sociology, or related Social Science disciplines.
  • have a genuine drive to champion female representation in a traditionally male-dominated sector.
  • possess an excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills, capable of engaging with diverse audiences.
  • be collaborative, empathetic, and able to build trust quickly with diverse groups.
  • strong project coordination skills; able to manage multiple calendars and events simultaneously.
  • Proficient with LinkedIn, social media platforms, applicant tracking systems (ATS), and MS Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint).

 

Period of Training:

  • Two (2) years
