SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE OF ROLE:

The role of the Group Controller is to ensure high quality financial information and insights that guides superior performance and protect business value. The role captures all reporting and performance management for the Group both internal and external and requires utmost integrity within the various external regulatory frameworks - JSE, SEC and the UK companies act as well as compliance with the requirements of IFRS and US GAAP.

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Build and lead a global team of high performing finance professionals ensuring growth and development pathways aligned with the Groups inclusion and diversity aspirations.
  • End to End ownership of all Controllership activity, systems, and processes to ensure integrity and timely reporting of financial statements and financial performance outcomes for the site, region, and Group expectations.
  • Develop and maintain a standardized and consistent approach to the interpretation and application of accounting policy in line with IFRS and US GAPP ensuring sites, regions, and Group compliance.
  • Build and maintain a fit for purpose Business Support Services Organization that encompasses Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, business travel and expense management for the Group Partner with the CFO to ensure ExCo have the best insights and analysis for decision making to drive optimal financial performance outcomes and that the financial outlooks reflect pathways to achieve internal and external targets.
  • Lead the external audit engagement for the Group and Audit & Risk Committee.
  • Lead the cost leadership program for finance, working closely with the SVP Supply chain and regional finance VPs Support the CDO organization in optimizing business combinations and tax planning strategy relating to acquisitions, disposals and the raising of debt/equity.
  • Support the CPO and RemCo in the bonus and performance process. 

 

 Technical Competencies:

  • Attention to detail, organization and focus on quality output.
  • Proven experience programming in SQL.
  • Experience working with Geochem lab data, QA/QC, traceability, and configuring appropriate data queries.
  • Experience with GIS and relational database systems.

 

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree -Chartered Accountant or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum 10 years relevant experience in Senior Financial Management positions within large, complex businesses (resources sector preferred)

  • Proven commercial and finance strategy development experience.
  • Thought leadership and aptitude to handle complex problems.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

This is a full-time position.

 

COMPENSATION:

Base Salary Range $253,344.00 - $582,691.20
