AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited, Obuasi Gold Mine is currently near completion of the redevelopment phase to become a modern, efficient and long-term profitable operation. The underground mining operation has been fully mechanized and designed to produce up to an average maximum of 5,000 t/day of ore mined.

OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE
The Contract Specialist will manage and oversee the KMS Engineering and maintenance contract, acting as the primary commercial and contractual interface between AngloGold Ashanti’s engineering team and the contractor.
The scope includes power distribution (MV/LV), ventilation and refrigeration plants, vertical winders, electric locomotives and rail systems, and related electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, OT and reliability services.
ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Ensure contractor compliance with the mine Safety Management System, statutory safety regulations, and environmental standards.
- Oversee maintenance delivery to contractual scope, quality, safety, reliability, and schedule requirements.
- Monitor OPEX and CAPEX, validate invoices and payment certificates, and control costs against budgets.
- Prevent scope creep and uncontrolled variations; recommend penalties, deductions, or incentives per contract.
- Identify and mitigate contractual, operational, financial, and compliance risks and maintain risk registers.
- Coordinate operational and performance review meetings; maintain effective communication between parties.
- Ensure accurate SAP PM work order management and cost capture; support reliability and asset performance analysis.
- Prepare monthly performance reports, KPI dashboards, variance analyses, and escalation reports.
- Conduct audits of contractor compliance, review claims, and implement corrective actions.
- Manage contract changes, ensure formal approvals, and keep accurate records of variations and amendments.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Education & Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction, Business Administration, Finance, Law, Supply Chain or related field
- Certification in contract management (e.g., Certified Federal Contracts Manager (CFCM), Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM)) OR Engineering, Finance recognized certification (added advantage)
- Experience in management of Maintenance and Repair Contracts (MARC)
Experience, Knowledge and Skills
- 5+ years in contract management/procurement/ planning/engineering/finance roles, with experience in the mining industry being advantageous.
- Experience in management and QA/QC on contractor work
- Experience in Project Management
- Knowledge of SAP PM module
- Working knowledge of Ghanaian contract law
- Understanding of procurement governance
- Compliance with mining and electrical statutory requirements
- Knowledge of MARC contract frameworks
- Contract management and administration
- SAP PM cost tracking
- Maintenance strategy understanding (RCM, reliability engineering)
- Underground mining infrastructure knowledge
