The Opportunity 

 


The Expediting Officer is to ensure timely and efficient delivery of goods, materials, and services as required by projects. The role holder shall monitor purchase orders, track shipments, liaise with suppliers and address issues that could potentially delay delivery timelines and the project schedule. 


Additionally, advising on all relevant procurement undertaken by the Mines in the Business Unit to ensure compliance with OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 Implementation principles within the area of accountability for both permanent and contract employees. The reporting structure is expected to change when preparing for construction phase with possible integration with the Africa Projects BU.

 

 

Accountabilities

 

  • Modelling behaviour that is consistent with the AGA Safety Vision and Values, assisting in driving a culture where Safety is our first value, and providing support for incident/accident investigations where required.
  • Governance, technical due diligence, and support to capital projects to ensure the compliance of all relevant AGA’s standards.
  • Ensure the health and safety of all personnel associated with the projects.
  • Track Purchase Requisitions from issuance through to delivery, ensuring each stage of the process is aligned with project schedules.
  • Follow up on open orders, confirming supplier readiness and pushing for faster delivery times when necessary to meet project requirements.
  • Maintain frequent communication with suppliers to verify production schedules, address potential issues, and confirm on-time delivery.
  • Investigate reasons for any delivery delays and work with suppliers to establish revised timelines or alternative solutions.
  • Ensure proper logistics and shipping arrangements are in place, coordinating with suppliers and logistics providers to align with delivery schedules.
  • Identify and troubleshoot any shipping issues (e.g., delays, damage) and coordinate with logistics providers to maintain delivery commitments.
  • Arrange for inspections of critical or high-value materials to verify that quality requirements are met before final acceptance.
  • Keep up-to-date documentation on order status, delivery schedules, and any changes, ensuring traceability and accountability.
  • Ensure all aspects of commercial, legal, and financial corporate governance are implemented in accordance with AGA standards.
  • Support the implementation of site initiatives such as fatigue management, Diversity & Inclusion, wellness programmes and mentorship Programme etc.
  • Identify and report compliance violations and assist with investigations.
  • Build capacity of team members on compliance related matters (e.g., communications regarding bribery/corruption, ethics, conflicts of interest, gifts, etc.). .

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Engineering, Economics, Commerce, Supply Chain Management, or related field.  
  • Project Management PMP Certified is an advantage.

 


EXPERIENCE

 

  • At least 3 years relevant experience in a project supply chain environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing and communication skills.
  • Ability to take a business perspective in managing multiple competing priorities and reconciling these with the project’s strategic priorities.
  • Demonstrated strategic and analytical thinking.
  • Demonstrated capacity to make sound short-term tactical decisions – quickly assembling and interpreting data to successfully
