AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited, Obuasi Gold Mine is currently near completion of the redevelopment phase to become a modern, efficient and long-term profitable operation. The underground mining operation has been fully mechanized and designed to produce up to an average maximum of 5,000 t/day of ore mined.

We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated person to join our dedicated team as per the details below:

OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE

We are seeking a skilled Draughtsman – Civil to support the design, drafting, and delivery of civil, structural, and earthworks packages for medium to large capital projects within the Africa Business Unit. The role is responsible for ensuring quality design control, project documentation, compliance with AngloGold Ashanti standards, and safe execution of civil construction works.

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Coordinate civil design and drafting activities for capital projects
• Manage consultants providing civil, structural, and earthworks design services
• Implement and monitor design control processes from concept through to as-built stage
• Maintain drawing standards, numbering systems, registers, and design review documentation
• Review civil designs and provide recommendations for improvement or corrective action
• Oversee civil construction works to ensure compliance with specifications, drawings, and company standards
• Produce project documentation, schedules, progress reports, and scope-related deliverables
• Support governance, compliance, technical quality, and environmental obligations across projects
• Provide leadership and support to project teams and on-site project champions

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Education & Qualification

• Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or equivalent
• MINCOM certified (1063 Sectional Engineer)

Experience, Knowledge and Skills

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in engineering design processes and construction protocols
• Proven experience on capital projects exceeding US$10 million
• Strong knowledge of project documentation, scheduling, and engineering governance
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and align them to strategic project objectives
• Sound analytical thinking and decision-making ability
• Adaptability across different cultures and environments
• Strong commitment to safety, compliance, and high performance
• Willingness to undertake business travel
