AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited, Obuasi Gold Mine is currently near completion of the redevelopment phase to become a modern, efficient and long-term profitable operation. The underground mining operation has been fully mechanized and designed to produce up to an average maximum of 5,000 t/day of ore mined.

We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated person to join our dedicated team as per the details below:

OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE

Strategic Leadership: Reports to the Director – Mining and is accountable for daily, weekly, and 12-week production engineering plans to support safe underground execution.

Technical Oversight: Coordinates stope designs, forecasting, delay tracking, and drill and blast performance.

Alignment & Standards: Ensures production outputs align with approved targets and infrastructure sequencing while maintaining technical governance.

Continuous Improvement: Promotes technical excellence through mentoring production engineers and standardizing documentation

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

• Safety & Compliance: Must allocate at least 30% of time to site safety requirements and foster a "zero harm" culture.
• Field Presence: Ensures direct reports maintain a minimum 30% underground presence for design validation and operational effectiveness.
• Technical Governance: Accountable for developing drill and blast guidelines, reconciliation documentation, and managing stope registers.
• Strategic Planning: Acts as a key consultant in the weekly planning process and provides production input for capital infrastructure milestones.
• Licensing: Must possess a valid driver’s license

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATION

• Tertiary Education: Degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
• Professional Certification: Must have an Underground Blasting Certificate, a Shift Boss Certificate, and a Mine Rescue Certificate from the Minerals Commission of Ghana.
• Technical Training: Advanced training in mine planning software such as AEGIS, Deswik CAD, and UGDB is desirable

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

• Professional Background: Minimum 10 years of underground mining experience, specifically focused on production engineering.
• Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated expertise in stope design, drill and blast engineering, and end-of-month reconciliation.
• Operational Knowledge: Deep understanding of underground mining methods, physicals tracking, ground vibration modeling, and fragmentation reporting.
• Business Acumen: Ability to prepare production inputs for budgeting, forecasting, and resource/geological updates.
