OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE
- Plan, execute, monitor and finalize security infrastructure and technology projects across the Mine operational footprint.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary internal teams and external security contractors to deliver integrated surveillance systems, access control protocols, perimeter protection systems and asset protection technologies safely, on time, within budget and in alignment with AngloGold Ashanti’s Zero Harm protocols and the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights.
ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Support the building, development and leadership of an effective and increasingly capable on-site Project Champions team.
- Monitor planned versus actual cost compliance for security capital expenditure projects and promptly escalate budget variances to the Director: Security and Human Rights.
- Prepare detailed weekly, monthly and quarterly project progress reports covering milestones achieved, risk registers and resource constraints.
- Supervise security vendors and contractors to ensure work meets AngloGold Ashanti technical specifications and quality standards.
- Collaborate with internal departments to integrate activity logic and manage cross-functional dependencies.
- Ensure all project deployments conform to globally accepted social and human rights standards, notably the VPSHR framework.
- Develop comprehensive security project scopes, timelines and execution plans using standard project tools.
- Coordinate the installation and integration of advanced electronic security systems including CCTV networks, fiber-optic perimeter intrusion detection systems, biometric access control systems and centralized control room telemetry.
- Allocate a minimum of 40% of time to the field to actively audit compliance with site safety requirements and support a culture of zero harm across project sites.
- Demonstrate and uphold AngloGold Ashanti’s core values of safety, respect, integrity, sustainability, excellence and collaboration.
- Ensure compliance of all site projects with the Global Security Standards.
- Coordinate with DT to ensure all security technologies are seamlessly and securely integrated into the mine technological architecture, including bandwidth and data storage allocations.
- Assist in forecasting project budget cycles, preparing annual capital estimates and tracking cost variances on active security builds to maximize savings.
- Ensure all new systems, applications and infrastructure deployed by the project are correctly onboarding logs to the Central Control Room.
- Oversee final technical walkthroughs and commissioning of security devices to confirm correct functionality and control room alerting.
- Coordinate the transition of newly installed security systems from project phase to operations and ensure operators are trained on new technical installations.
- Conduct pre-construction and post-installation physical site assessments to identify structural vulnerabilities or deviations from the security design plan.
- Ensure all physical security designs comply with local building codes as well as Global Security Standards.
- Draft and update site-specific Post Instructions and emergency response procedures for the security guard force whenever new physical assets are established.
- Manage the technical deployment of security head-end infrastructure including Network Video Recorders, Access Control Panels and security servers in collaboration with the Risk and Technical Security Unit.
- Oversee technical integration between disparate systems such as video management software with access control systems and perimeter radar or laser systems with PTZ camera analytics.
- Jointly configure and calibrate technical edge analytics including license plate recognition, thermal perimeter masking and facial recognition systems to minimize false alarm rates.
- Review and approve technical specifications for electronic security systems including CCTV surveillance, access control systems and perimeter intrusion detection systems.
- Conduct formal risk assessments for all security project installations and infrastructure modifications before and during execution.
- Validate and ensure prompt payment of all security-related invoices.
- Monitor, assess, record and provide feedback on contractor performance in the delivery of project outcomes.
- Monitor progress and advise management in a timely manner on potential cost, schedule or quality variances.
- Manage project schedules and coordinate all changes based on work packages for progress tracking and schedule performance.
- Ensure that work is conducted in a safe manner.
- Ensure that inspections, audits and other working elements of the Safety Management System are in compliance.
- Ensure prompt reporting of all injuries, illness and safety incidents.
- Coach the team in the safe facilitation of tasks within the area of accountability to reduce significant hazards toward zero lost time injuries.
- Promote health and safety at the workplace with a view of zero tolerance.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Education & Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in project management or supply chain or equivalent with relevant certificate in security operations from a recognized institution.
- Project Management Professional certification is highly desirable.
Experience
- A minimum of 4 to 6 years of progressive project coordination experience within a mining security infrastructure environment.
- Proven experience in deploying large-scale integrated security systems including CCTV, access control, VMS, alarm systems and associated fencing solutions.
- Well-developed industry networks.
Knowledge & Skills
- Must have a valid driving license.

- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Project and Excel for project tracking.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Safety, Health and Environment procedures in and around the workplace, including PPE requirements and housekeeping standards.
