AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited, Obuasi Gold Mine is currently near completion of the redevelopment phase to become a modern, efficient and long-term profitable operation. The underground mining operation has been fully mechanized and designed to produce up to an average maximum of 5,000 t/day of ore mined.

OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE

 

The Supervisor, CIC – Process Plant is accountable for planning, monitoring and controlling the work output to standard of all CIC aspects of the Processing Plant through the application of operational policies, standards, processes and procedures to maximise plant availability in a sustainable and cost‑effective manner and minimize operational risks in order to meet the business’ strategic objectives.

The role is accountable for ensuring the CIC maintenance team delivers safe, productive and efficient operational output. The role holder coordinates and controls the maintenance of CIC aspects of the Processing Plant, ensuring equipment is maintained according to original equipment manufacturer standards and handed over fit‑for‑purpose to the Processing Plant operations team for safe and efficient use.

The role holder monitors achievement of key performance indicator (KPI) targets and provides informative and timely reports to management on the performance and status of the maintenance department. The role also implements processes to improve equipment reliability, ensure safety, manage costs and reduce environmental incidents in line with the AGA Asset Management Plan.

 

 

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

Safety

  • Implement Safety Management Plan elements for areas under control.
  • Provide technical input to develop safety management plans for construction, maintenance and refurbishment works.
  • Apply HSE regulations with zero tolerance to breaches.
  • Lead by example to create a safe working environment.
  • Conduct inspections, audits and JHAs and investigate incidents with corrective actions implemented.
  • Identify and facilitate safety training requirements

Environment

  • Ensure compliance with Government of Ghana approval conditions and site Environmental Management Plan.
  • Deliver zero reportable environmental incidents and compliance breaches.
  • Investigate process interruptions using analyze and improve tools.
  • Support the Processing Department to maintain Cyanide Code certification.

People

  • Gather and provide performance information to the CIC Superintendent – Processing Plant.
  • Define roles and accountabilities using AGA’s How We Work guidelines.
  • Develop training, skills matrices and succession plans.
  • Identify skill gaps and initiate corrective actions.
  • Communicate policies and procedures to ensure understanding and compliance.

Work

  • Plan and execute CIC, PLC and automation maintenance activities.
  • Conduct audits of CIC instruments, PLCs and plant networks.
  • Review maintenance activities to identify continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Execute condition monitoring, inspections, calibration and data collection activities.
  • Analyze and trend predictive maintenance data and generate SAP work requests.
  • Participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis and maintenance review programmes.

Cost

  • Identify, implement and propose cost reduction and cost saving initiatives.

Time

  • Execute and coordinate maintenance work in line with time plans and escalate delays.

Risk Management

  • Monitor equipment performance using asset health systems and proactively address potential failure risks.

Reporting

  • Report directly to the CIC Superintendent on issues and improvement projects.

Authorities

  • Authority to stop equipment from operating where unsafe conditions exist.

 

 

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Education & Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Maintenance, Telecommunication, Computer Engineering, etc.) with 10+ years relevant experience; OR
  • Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Maintenance, etc. per LI2182) with a minimum of 12 years’ relevant experience.
  • Financial, commercial and project management exposure through work experience and/or courses.

Experience

  • Experience as an electronics or instrumentation maintenance Supervisor, preferably in metals extraction or mine infrastructure environments.
  • Experience managing Maintenance and Repair Contracts (MARC).
  • Project management experience.
  • Working knowledge of SAP PM module.

 

 

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong instrumentation and electronics maintenance competencies in mining or extractive metallurgy environments.
  • Sound project management and analytical problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical, management and executive teams.
  • Commercial and legal awareness related to maintenance systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of AGA standards, OEM requirements and mining regulations.
