AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited, Obuasi Gold Mine is currently near completion of the redevelopment phase to become a modern, efficient and long-term profitable operation. The underground mining operation has been fully mechanized and designed to produce up to an average maximum of 5,000 t/day of ore mined.

OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE
The Electrical Technician – Lifting and Ancillary reports to the Workshop Supervisor – Lifting and Ancillary and is accountable for executing planned and ad hoc maintenance, servicing and repair work on Lifting equipment and ancillaries in a safe and compliant manner as instructed and tasked.
The work is to be executed in accordance with detailed tasking in accordance with applicable Government of Ghana and AGAG safety and environmental requirements.
ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on lifting equipment and ancillaries to required standards.
- Complete daily pre-start checks on equipment and tools; escalate anomalies to the Supervisor.
- Prepare tools and checklists for assigned tasks and execute work in a timely manner.
- Identify and report equipment anomalies indicating maintenance needs.
- Provide accurate data to support the Maintenance Planner and close out SAP work orders.
- Operate equipment within safe limits; stop and report unsafe conditions or high-risk situations.
- Adhere to the maintenance management system, procedures and standards; document and sign off work.
- Comply with environmental requirements; report deviations and participate in audits and meetings.
- Ensure quality workmanship with inspection and testing prior to handover; follow approved change management.
- Work according to total quality management principles & ensure zero defect objectives & safety.
- Apply HSE regulations with zero tolerance to breaches.
- Demonstrate safety behavior consistent with AGAG’s vision and values.
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve design and field safety performance.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Education & Qualification
- Secondary/Technical education level
- Certificate of successful completion of respected auto-electrical trade apprenticeship (example: City and Guilds).
- National Vocational Trade
- Mincom Certification
- Institute (NVTI) Grade 1
- Driving operating skills with valid driving/ operation license.
Experience
- Three (3) years of experience of post-apprenticeship work in an Auto Electrician trade.
- Familiarity with the Ghana Minerals and Mining (Health Safety and Technical) Regulation.
Knowledge & Skills
- Worked in an underground Environment would be an advantage
- Fully literate and numerate
- Fully competent in mechanical trade
- Knowledge in crane safe operation.
