The AGA Africa Business Unit is seeking experienced and self-motivated persons to join our team.
Job purpose
To Coordinate for the controls for all project risk, governance, and performance for the Teberebie Relocation Project to ensure that safety, schedule, cost, quality and document control objectives are achieved.
Additionally, advising on all relevant construction projects undertaken by the Mines in the Business Unit to ensure compliance with OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 Implementation principles within the area of accountability for both permanent and contract employees. The reporting structure is expected to change when preparing for construction phase with possible integration with the Africa Projects BU.
Key Accountabilities
- Establish the project rules of engagement incorporating Diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Develop a clearly defined communication plan for medium and major projects to achieve a cohesive team culture.
- Manage the effective implementation of the project risk, governance, and regulatory framework from initiation to closure of the project.
- Support the engineering, procurement, and construction teams to design, plan, and execute the project.
- Liaise with the stakeholders, managing the overall program, costs, forecasts, and end-of-month reporting.
- Manage the planning and programming activities to ensure the most efficient use of resources and completion of the project by the contract.
- Manage the effective implementation and adherence to company, project safety, and environmental procedures.
- Optimise profitability to satisfy the financial goals of the project.
- Drive and champion the safety-first value and message into both design and field activities.
- Key interface role, to effectively manage the contractors.
- Proactively manage change to avoid potential project cost and schedule overruns by contractors.
- Ensure construction contractors achieve required HSE standards during construction.
- Provide input and support into establishing and maintaining relevant Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), budget, schedule, and construction work packs.
- Produce comprehensive project plans and documentation to enable the project to be managed against a clear set of defined deliverables and milestones.
Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering or equivalent from a recognized institution.
- Project Management PMP Certified is an advantage.
- 5 years’ proven experience in managing medium & major socially driven projects (>$50m – $100m)
- Well-developed industry networks
- At least 5 years relevant experience in social project implementation process in the mining industry.
- Good knowledge of community related project life cycle and relevant risks.
- Strong interpersonal, influencing and communication skills.
- Ability to take a business perspective in managing multiple competing priorities and reconciling these with the project’s strategic priorities.
- Demonstrated strategic and analytical thinking.
- Demonstrated capacity to make sound short-term tactical decisions – quickly assembling and interpreting data to successfully action priorities.
- Commercial acumen relevant to the role
