The AGA Africa Business Unit is seeking experienced and self-motivated persons to join our Project Team - Siguiri Mine.


Role Purpose

 

To coordinate and lead option analysis and or arising designs and estimates to a] mitigate risks on the existing SAG Tailing Storage Facility  b] explore options to increase the tailings deposition capacity in line with the life of mine.  c] Lead interim or early works  as the case may be. The role holder will work with various consultants and or EPCM's to deliver options/tradeoff and ultimately an overall strategy together with a feasibility level study and cost estimate to execute the work in accordance with the company and industry guidelines, standards and procedures.

Location

This role will ideally be located on site at Siguiri Mine in the Republic of Guinea however options exist to lead the works either out of Ghana or South Africa.

 

Accountabilities

  • Modelling behavior that is consistent with the AGA Safety Vision and Values, assisting in driving a culture where Safety is our first value, and providing support for incident/accident investigations where required. 
  • Reporting into the Head of projects for the Africa region, the role holder will complete the option assessments and thereafter propose a strategy for the current and future facility.
  • Arising to lead an EPCM consultant to complete a feasibility study for the proposed works.
  • To work in a team and matrix structure involving site, the regional projects team and the corporate teams ensure that the solution proposed includes inputs from all parties as interested and affected stakeholders.
  • Governance, technical due diligence and alignment to the AGA capital projects standards. 
  • Work with the mine operational and sustainability teams in the quantification of options considering amongst other stakeholders, regulators and impacted communities.
  • Ensure the health and safety of all personnel associated with the projects.
    • Manage all the consultants providing design services for the TSF projects and multi -disciplinary work packages for associated infrastructure as well as technical outputs for government and permitting requirements.
  • Manage the delivery of comprehensive project plans, schedules and estimates to enable the project to be managed against a clear set of defined deliverables and milestones.
  • Present the overall recommendations and proposals to technical and financial review committees and to action any follow-on action recommendations as required.
  • Produce study progress and internal reports
  • Provide leadership to those involved in the project by defining work and ensuring deadlines are understood and adhered to and that project objectives are clearly articulated and understood.
  • Ensure project requirements and resource levels are fully supported and approved throughout the lifecycle of the project.
  • Work with immediate reports and staff in a way that adds value to their roles and ensures their effectiveness. These authorities include induction into team, assigning specific tasks, assessing performance, providing coaching, initiating disciplinary action as and when required.
  • Integrates project and project support work through successive stages of project analysis and development. 
  • Adopt risk management principles in the commissioning and operation of the tailing’s facility. 
  • Identify and report compliance violations and assist with investigations.

 

Person Specification

 

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering or equivalent or Geotechnical Engineering from a recognized institution.
  • Project Management PMP Certified is an advantage.
  • Ten years’ proven experience in managing project studies with experience in TSF projects studies being advantageous.
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing and communication skills. 
  • Ability to take a five-year whole-of-business perspective in managing multiple competing priorities and reconciling these with the Company’s strategic priorities. 
  • Demonstrated strategic and analytical thinking. 
  • Demonstrated capacity to make sound short-term tactical decisions – quickly assembling and interpreting data to successfully action priorities.  
  • Commercial acumen relevant to the role 
  • Demonstrated capability in organising work, setting priorities, and exercising sound independent judgement.
