Job purpose
The purpose of the Social Performance Manager – Teberebie Resettlement Project’s role is to plan and lead execution of the social performance aspects of the Teberebie relocation with the view of managing all social risks associated with the project and managing relationships with stakeholders to ensure successful implementation of the project.
Key Accountabilities
- Develop and implement a forward-looking engagement strategy covering PAPs, traditional authorities, local government, and other identified stakeholders in line with the company’s policy to “communicate and consult on our activities throughout the lifecycle of our operations” to build successful and mutually beneficial relationships with stakeholders for successful implementation of the Teberebie relocation.
- Implement approved site Community Complaints and Grievance SOP to provide PAPs and other stakeholders a means to raise complaints and grievances against the mine on the Teberebie relocation and for the mine to respond and resolve those issues where reasonable and feasible, ensuring that opportunities for complaints and grievances related to the Teberebie Resettlement Project to escalate into incidents are reduced.
- Implement an agreed plan to complete and document the cash compensation option of the Teberebie relocation.
- Finalise and implement the Teberebie RAP towards successful completion of housing and to complete movement of PAPs
- Develop a Livelihood Restoration Programme (LRP) for the Teberebie Resettlement Project and establish a plan for successful implementation of the programme.
- Develop, implement, and document a Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Plan to measure the successful completion of and the impact of the Teberebie relocation.
Requirements
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in Social Management function in mining or related industry of which at least 3 years was at
- management level.
- Hands on experience in resettlement and land take projects
- Experience of different stages of mining life cycle and the associated sustainability issues
- A good knowledge and understanding of relevant Ghanian Legal provisions for landtake
- A good knowledge and understanding of internationally applicable standards relevant to mining and sustainable development (ICMM,
- IFC, ESG, VPSHR, GEITI etc.)
- A good knowledge and understanding of the mining industry and the mining value chain.
- In-depth knowledge of modern sustainability systems of multinational business operations.
- Proven competence in participatory and grassroots development methodologies
- A good knowledge of the local government system and their functions
- Excellent negotiations skills
- A strong knowledge of the stakeholder landscape of the Iduapriem Mine
- Strong people management skills
- A strong ability to outline goals, and define targets
- A good knowledge of the local culture and traditions
- Ability to foster positive relations with individuals
- Ability to facilitate group processes
- Ability to speak fluently in the local dialect
- Ability to work in a team
- Excellent organizational and planning skills.
