ANGLOGOLD ASHANTI (IDUAPRIEM) LIMITED (A subsidiary of AngloGold Ashanti Limited) operate the combine Teberebie and Iduapriem open-pits gold mines at Tarkwa in the Western Region of Ghana and has a work force of over 1400, including contractors.

ABOUT THE ROLE
Provide operational support to mining activities through proactive management of geotechnical & hydrogeological risks, hazard identification and communication as well as data management.
ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Slope Monitoring Implementation
- Ensure all slope faces are inspected and managed to mitigate loose rockmass hazards in alignment with site safety standards.
- Provide timely ground condition updates to support mine planning and operational decision-making.
- Assess and identify suitable areas for installing Prisms and Crackmeters.
- Install, set up, and maintain geotechnical monitoring systems (Prisms, VWPs, Surface Extensometers, etc.) in accordance with approved procedures.
- Support Geotechnical and Hydrogeology Engineers with mapping, sampling, pit and dump inspections and field-testing activities.
- Capture Sirovision-compliant stereo photographs for all pits.
- Capture drone footage and video as directed by the supervisor or designated lead.
- Reconcile geotechnical hazards raised versus controlled by collaborating with Mine Pit Superintendents and Supervisors.
- Update the Hazard Map with new Hazard Alerts at the end of each swing and ensure visibility across all designated notice boards.
- Perform weekly Radar health checks and support Radar deployments as required.
- Perform weekly GeoMOS health checks and escalate issues where necessary.
- Data Capture and Reporting
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date weekly handover notes with relevant operational information.
- Support the review and update of Geotechnical and Hydrogeology Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) where required.
- Update Geotechnical and Hydrogeology LEAN performance graphs in the Tactical Room.
- Communicate Geotechnical issues clearly and concisely to the Geotechnical Engineer in monthly bullet-point reports.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Education & Qualification
- Senior High School, Technical, or Vocational School certificate.
- Valid Class B driver’s license with a minimum of two (2) years driving experience.
- Diamond Drill certification and/or foundational rock science training (e.g., Certificate in Geotechnical Engineering or Hydrogeology) is an added advantage.
- Drone operation certification or demonstrated competency in UAV operations is an added advantage.
Experience
- A minimum of two years in the exploration and/ or mining industry.
- Previous experience working in an Open Pit or Underground (UG) mining environment is preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
- Working knowledge of geotechnical instruments and associated software.
- Working knowledge of Geotechnical and/or Hydrogeological Monitoring Systems.
- Foundational understanding of site investigation processes, including drilling, sampling, and geotechnical logging.
- Ability to interpret and communicate basic geotechnical field data accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety standards.
REMUNERATION
- As per the AGA salary scales.
