ANGLOGOLD ASHANTI (IDUAPRIEM) LIMITED (A subsidiary of AngloGold Ashanti Limited) operate the combine Teberebie and Iduapriem open-pits gold mines at Tarkwa in the Western Region of Ghana and has a work force of over 1400, including contractors.

ROLE PURPOSE
The Manager, Industrial Relations role is accountable for promoting and maintaining satisfactory labour-management relations through constructive engagement practices in line with Company values, framework of Collective Agreements, policies, and the Ghanaian Labour Laws
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Formulate and administer labour relations policy and procedures subject to top management guidance and approval
- Educate workers regularly on company policies and procedures and workers Collective Agreements
- Participate in or coordinates with Company Legal Counsel to prepare for and represent management in Legal hearings and arbitration at the Labour Commission/Courts for the purpose of providing testimony and monitoring proceedings
- Effectively manage all employee and industrial relations issues on the mine, involving engagement and internal communication in accordance with Company values, policies and Ghanaian labour requirement
- Develop assessment tools for measuring the effectiveness of employee engagement and communication intervention;
- Effectively manage employee relations programmes and procedures related to grievances, disciplinary action, code of conduct, conflict resolution and interpretation or application of policies and collective agreement obligations
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to promote and maintain satisfactory labour-management relations
- Conduct surveys and research on workers remuneration, labour negotiations and collective bargaining trends, employee retention schemes and make recommendations for implementation as necessary
- Maintain Accurate and reliable database on salaries and condition of service comparison for unionized workforce and management staff in the mining industry;
- Participate in Negotiations with relevant union bodies in concluding terms and conditions of work.
- Implement effective disputes resolution practices and ensuring minimum damage to the business in order to sustain a peaceful and harmonious industrial relations environment.
- Ensure timely processing for workman compensation claims due injured workers
- Plan training and development of industrial Relations team and union representatives (capacity building) on a regular basis.
QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE AND TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
Qualification
- Degree in the Humanities or Social Sciences.
Experience
- 8+ years’ experience Human Resources Management with focus on industrial and employee relations
- Strong analytic and problem-solving skills
- Broad business exposure
- Cost management
- Strategic exposure to business
- Performance Management
- Team management
- In-depth knowledge of Project Management and implementation of change programs will be beneficial
