ANGLOGOLD ASHANTI (IDUAPRIEM) LIMITED (A subsidiary of AngloGold Ashanti Limited) operate the combine Teberebie and Iduapriem open-pits gold mines at Tarkwa in the Western Region of Ghana and has a work force of over 1400, including contractors.

The Opportunity

The purpose of the role is to design, define and manage dependable systems of work that reliably deliver the expected ore grade and tonnage from mine to mill by integrating technical studies, programs, and analysis of production geology with the business objectives and processes of mine planning, mining production, and process plant.

 

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Establish the necessary Production geology processes and practices
  • Effective ore accounting and production reconciliation process including the development of efficient Grade Control processes
  • Ore blending plans in collaboration with Mining and the processing teams
  • Develop, communicate and deliver a rolling 18-month plan, by quarter, that delivers required Production Geology services and outputs
  • Developed ore accounting and reconciliation process to control and inform future work and plans
  • Control ore feed according to requirements
  • Ensure Production Geology techniques and tools are applied to the required standard.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing geology team.
  • Mentor senior geologists and technical specialists.
  • Drive succession planning and technical capability building.
  • Foster a culture where AGA values are demonstrated.
  • Develop and deliver the annual Production geology cost centre budget to achieve the required targets for achieving annual, medium term and LOM business plans.
  • All Mine Geology activities delivered in accordance with Company values, Company policies, Standards, Procedures, Laws, Regulations, Local cultural norms and third-party agreements.

Qualification

 

  • MSc or BSc (Hons) in Geology or Earth Sciences
  • Should have the ability to obtain Minerals Commission competency certificate
  • Must hold a valid Driver’s License

 

Experience

  • Minimum fifteen (10) years’ experience in mining geology and exploration
  • At least 5 years in senior leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience in geological risk analysis
  • Strong strategic thinking capability
  • Sound financial and commercial acumen
  • Ability to make effective decisions under uncertainty
  • Strong stakeholder management and engagement skills
