The AGA Africa Business Unit is seeking experienced and self-motivated persons to join our team in Iduapriem.
The Opportunity
Oversee mining operations, maintenance and load and haul activities. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of mining and haulage operations to ensure an efficient and safe mining operation.
Key Accountabilities
- Execute production plans focusing on safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. Continuously monitor and adjust schedules to meet goals, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Oversee daily operations to maintain quality standards, conducting regular inspections and audits, and maintaining detailed records for accountability and improvement.
- Lead and develop a team of mining professionals, providing mentorship, conducting performance evaluations.
- Assess staffing needs, coordinate equipment procurement and maintenance, and implement strategies to maximise fleet utilisation and minimise downtime.
- Monitor operational costs, analyse financial reports to identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement cost-control measures while maintaining productivity and safety.
- Offer strategic advice on complex mining challenges, collaborate with senior management on long-term strategies, and ensure activities align with best practices and industry developments.
- Manage AMAX / AMS exit and the transition to a new mining contractor
- Implement robust safety protocols and risk assessments, maintaining a zero-incident workplace while adhering to environmental standards
About You

Qualification
- BSc in Mining Engineering or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
- Or Secondary School Certificate with 20 years’ experience
- Certified by Inspectorate Division of the Minerals Commission of Ghana as a Mining Captain or above.
Experience
- Ten (10) years’ experience in mining operations in a similar role within the mining industry
- Extensive knowledge of contract management, maintenance, drilling and blasting, Geology, Geotechnical and overall Mine Operations Management
- Practical knowledge and operation of common mine equipment such as excavators, drills, trucks, loaders, support equipment etc.
- Trains, monitors, and oversees direct staff and contractors in safety processes and procedure, ensuring compliance to all applicable protocols and regulations
