Senior Operator - Production

ANGLOGOLD ASHANTI (IDUAPRIEM) LIMITED (A subsidiary of AngloGold Ashanti Limited) operate the combine Teberebie and Iduapriem open-pits gold mines at Tarkwa in the Western Region of Ghana and has a work force of over 1400, including contractors.

OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE

To ensure effective functioning of all equipment for optimum production recovery.

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Conduct pre-start checks of all equipment at the beginning of every shift and ensure to report any defect/deviations to the supervisor.
• Ensure steel ball charging into mills is carried out in a timely manner on shift for effective milling and improvement in throughput rates.
• Clean used liners and lifters after mill relining, remove scraps and empty all dustbins as and when required from the CIL plant.
• Operate and control thickeners and ensure correct operation of the flocculants mixing plant through effective communication with control room operators and ensuring flocculant powder is always available with mixing hopper filled.
• Implement safe work procedures that will ensure the safe and efficient control of all circuit within your area of responsibility.
• Implement task work procedure that will ensure environmental compliance.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Education & Qualification

• HND / GCE ‘O’ level / GCE A’ level / SSCE / Middle School leaving Certificate / JHS /Mechanical Engineering Technician II / Electrical & Electronic Technician II, NVTI, City & Guilds or its equivalent from a reputable institution.

Experience, Knowledge and Skills

• 1-3 years working experience in a gold processing plant.

• Must be able to report all accidents and incidents, in particular “near misses” and to participate in the investigation process.
• An in-depth knowledge in processing plant operations
• Must be able to perform multiple tasks with quality of work as priority.
• Must have good interpersonal skills and ability to interact with people of diverse culture and values.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and proficiency in driving a light vehicle.
