ROLE PURPOSE


To Coordinate for the design and drafting for all structural, mechanical and piping scope of works for medium and large projects in the Africa Business Unit (ABU) Project. Additionally, advising on all relevant construction projects undertaken by the Mines in the Business Unit to ensure compliance with OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 Implementation principles within the area of accountability for both permanent and contract employees.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:


•Act on all corrective actions assigned to you or under your jurisdiction and ensure timely completion.
•Assess risks for all tasks and ensure they are controlled before and during task execution.
•Report all incidents and ensure they have been investigated and corrective actions completed on time.

•Investigate all environmental incidents in assigned work areas and prepare reports with recommendations for the departmental Manager for onward submission to the Environmental Manager or his representative.
• Modelling behaviour that is consistent with the AGA Safety Vision and Values, assisting in driving a culture where Safety is our first value, and providing support for incident/accident investigations where required.
• Governance, technical due diligence and support to capital projects to ensure the compliance of all relevant AGA’s standards.
• Ensure the health and safety of all personnel associated with the projects.
• Manage all the consultants providing SMPP design services for the projects and multi -disciplinary work packages for associated infrastructure as well as technical outputs for government and permitting requirements.
• Manage the production of comprehensive project plans and documentation to enable the project to be managed against a clear set of defined deliverables and milestones.
• Conduct an evaluation of the project and any follow-on action recommendations as required.
• Oversee and inspect the mechanical fabrication works, installations and refurbishment work to ensure that the infrastructure adheres to AGAG’s requirements with respect to relevant specifications, drawings and General Arrangements drawings.
• Ensure the installation is presented in a professional and manner and fully functional.
• Ensure all aspects of commercial, legal, and financial corporate governance are implemented in accordance with AGA standards.
• Ensure reliable processes for managing the technical quality of the Plan of Operations and supporting engineering deliverables.
• Support the implementation of site initiatives such as fatigue management, Diversity & Inclusion, wellness programmes and mentorship Programme etc.
• Identify and report compliance violations and assist with investigations.
• Build capacity of team members on compliance related matters (e.g., communications regarding bribery/corruption, ethics, conflicts of interest, gifts, etc.).
• Management of Project schedule to achieve business needs and operational requirements.
• Provide leadership to those involved in the project by defining work and ensuring deadlines are understood and adhered to and that project objectives are clearly articulated and understood.
• Support on building, developing, and leading an effective and increasingly capable on-site Project Champions.
• Managing the provision of Metallurgical Technical services and support to AGA Africa Operations, part of a US$5B enterprise value global gold mining company listed on the Australian, Johannesburg, New York, and Ghana stock exchanges, with a diverse range of activities on four continents.


QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE AND TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES


Qualification

•Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Structural Engineering or equivalent.
•Project Management PMP Certified is an advantage.


Experience

•Must have minimum 5 years relevant experience in relevant experience in engineering designs process and construction protocols.
•Must be a MINCOM certified (1063 Sectional Engineer.
•Must be an acknowledged leader in the field of Construction and Project Management of Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls and quality control of construction.

•Fully understands the AGA project management standard requirements to complete a major project (>$10m) to implementation.
•Can review a major project for compliance against the standard and make recommendations to address deficiencies.
•Can lead the work of test work and engineering design service providers.
•Basic understanding of Agile project management
