Job Purpose

 

To Coordinate and Lead project deliveries for the design and construction of the Teberebie community relocation project. The role holder will ensure that appropriate standards and quality are maintained during the design and execution phase in accordance with technical and social guidelines and procedures.

Additionally, working closely with the community and sustainability teams to both ensure compliance with the agreed specifications but importantly to work in collaboration such that overall project success is achieved.

 

Location

Role to be based in Ghana with preference for an on site location at Iduapriem Mine.

 

Accountabilities

 

  • Modelling behavior that is consistent with the AGA Safety Vision and Values, assisting in driving a culture where Safety is our first value, and providing support for incident/accident investigations where required. 
  • Reporting into the Head of Projects for the Africa region, the incumbent will be accountable for the Overall delivery of the project from an engineering and construction perspective.
  • To work closely with the community teams in a collaborative and supportive manner. The community team will mange the stakeholder interfaces and community engagement.
  • This will include refining and adopting the an initial project execution plan and a feasibility budget together with external consultants into a detailed project execution plan and strategy.
  • Lead the implementation of the execution plan, together with supporting staff to deliver the overall project objectives.
  • Ensure the health and safety of all personnel associated with the projects.
  • Produce all project documentation inclusive project progress reports, deviation reports, risk schedules, acceleration reports etc to support the project.
  • Manage the various consultants, contractors and or service providers from identification, scope definition, selection, management of claims and overall closeout of individual packages.
  • Manage the overall project budget inclusive commercial management of the various contractors and service providers as the case maybe.
  • Develop together with the community teams an overall milestone schedule and to translate these into detailed integrated schedules to ensure that the project milestone dates are achieved.
  • Provide leadership to those involved in the project by defining work and ensuring deadlines are understood and adhered to and that project objectives are clearly articulated and understood.
  • Justify motivate and procure as the case may be project requirements and resources to achieve the project objectives.
  • Work with overall project, site and corporate teams in a way that adds value to their roles and ensures their effectiveness. 
  • Identify and report compliance violations and assist with investigations.
  • Build capacity of team members on compliance related matters (e.g., communications regarding bribery/corruption, ethics, conflicts of interest, gifts, etc.).

 

 

Person Specification

 

  • Tertiary qualification in construction, civil engineering or equivalent or engineering degree from a recognized institution.
  • At least 10 years relevant experience construction projects leading multiple contractors. 
  • Sound practical understanding project processes from project management to construction and quality management.
  • String commercial knowledge with sound contract management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing and communication skills. 
  • Demonstrated capacity to make sound short-term tactical decisions – quickly assembling and interpreting data to successfully action priorities.  
  • Commercial acumen relevant to the role 
  • Demonstrated capability in organizing work, setting priorities, and exercising sound independent judgement. 
  • Project Management PMP Certified is an advantage.
